I wonder if the news today that the mystery train with John Kelly is returning ( but to Lyric) will have any effect on Creedon ? Does it make any sense for rte having two similar shows running head to head ?

The music is great, it's just a shame that the audio quality of RTE 1 is so abysmal.

Why does music sound so bad on RTÉ R1 FM?

Another gem of a show tonight. It's like a perfectly curated list of music that you haven't heard; have heard - but haven't heard in ages; or know, but love hearing it again.

I realise that it's not an optimal slot, but does anyone know if the listenership is increasing?

I like the entire Friday evening programming on Radio1 to be honest. Creedon being a legend, Brian Carthy doing a tight half hour analysis of the upcoming GAA games, Seascapes to finish.

I wouldn't miss the Creedon show. He plays great music, engages with his listeners and makes us all feel like we are all part of his radio community. Creedon is a legend.

I agree. A great show. A little too much South American music, but that's quibbling!

Have the Frank and Waters and Morrisey got shares in the Creedon show? :)

I'm a big fan of Creedon's Spotify, but I wonder if he isn't shooting his ratings in the foot?

For the past week, I've been busy doing stuff around the house, and instead of tuning in, I just think 'ah I'll catch it on spotify on the way to work'

I know John has his own appeal of course, it isn't all about the music. He's a fantastic radio host with one of those rare abilities to make a listener feel like he's talking directly to you.

I think that's why someone once dubbed him the Terry Wogan of Irish music.

Still, I'm not sure what the thinking behind the Spotify channel was.

Is it me or does every song Fiachna plays feels like it's by somebody that he'd invite to one of his dinner parties?

John Lydon would be an ideal dinner guest :D

He's either the Deliveroo boy or the gatecrasher.

Great start to the show last night, 2 Derry artists (ok so I am a bit biased).

I must say, going to check out Bronagh Gallaghers new album, if that single Crimes is anything to go by. I like that vibe.

Is Seascapes not a bit dry?
