Something to put in containers/bed for Autumn/Winter

As the title says, I'm looking to ideas for plants or a few small shrubs that I can use for winter colouring in a few containers (no bigger than a bucket) and a long narrow flower bed - about 20ft X 2ft.

I usually do spring bulbs/primroses etc and then a few summer flowers but it goes to hell in the autumn and winter and this year I'd like to see can i do something with it.

Anenomes and Hellebores would be a good start.

Plant in some snowdrop bulbs too.
