Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

"DUBLIN ARRIVAL.... Monday 2nd September around 12 noon... (Stena Line ferry - departs Holyhead at 8h55)... All scooterists and non scooterists come meet us at the port when we arrive in Ireland - and join us for a ride into Dublin to Our Lady's Children's Hospital... and then to Jury's Inn, Parnell Street, where we will be staying.... All welcome."

Well its only taken them 8 months and they've driven 35000 kms but they arrive tomorrow. Be great to see any of the Boards.ie motorcyclists there to meet them. Be a great opportunity to ask them questions about their trip if you are interested or planning a long distance journey etc...

Well Chris, Hein, Dave and Ian arrived this lunchtime off the Stena ferry in Dublin Port. Thanks to Aidan and Terry from the VCI for the escort to Crumlim Kids Hospital and back to the Hotel off O'Connell Street...Congrats to the lads on their achievement of 35,000kms on scooters from the tip of Africa to Ireland.

No major breakdowns according to Ian the youngest of the group except for odd rear puncture, odd gear/clutch cable, a coil and a clutch between 4 scoots. Dave, the only american in the group is 59 and a motorcyclist who was never on a vespa before february this year in Capetown. The lads now look forward to 2 weeks holiday drinking beer and sightseeing in Ireland. A well earned rest...

Dammit, I came off a 24hr shift this morning and completely forgot.

I really wanted to see those guys.

They're touring the west and south for 2 weeks then back to Dublin for 1 last weekend. You might have a chance to meet them then as VCI is gonna try organize a send off rideout or escort or something...

Now that is some journey around the world allright.
Hats off to them for it too.:)

Hope none of their gear is nicked like the last poor unfortunate touring bike rider had his bike nicked here in Dublin.

Missed them also but would like to see them off. Didn't see any mention of them on the news which is a shame.

Are they flying back? Might raise more for charity by auctioning scooters here or UK.. Dont know their plans though.

    I'm in the West (Athenry/Galway) - have they a route they're on ?

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

They didn't mention specific dates, just the cities, Galway, Cork, Waterford and back to Dublin iirc. Three of us met them at the ferry and the guys were over the moon at getting the support, especially our escorting them to Our Lady's hospital in Crumlin. Very genuine, down to earth guys, a pleasure to meet them.
