Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Financial sequelae of a child out of wedlock

Man and a woman in a relationship, or have a casual encounter, but are NOT married, and a child results. The couple split up/were never together. What is the stance of the court and what happens? Do both parents have to contribute equally to the child's upbringing or according to their means etc. I am not asking about custody, but maintenance

Yes, the court will try to balance the needs of the child with the means of the parents. Marital status is only relevant in the case of spousal maintenance

True but that is not automatic and in fact I have yet to meet someone who has got maintenance, PRoperty adjustment orders etc through that legislation.
