Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I actually hope Bendtner starts tomorrow and gets a goal. He is better than most give him credit for. His international record is damn good.

Yup, people need to get over the 'I hate him' thing. He has ability and has done ok in his last 2-3 appearences.

He could prove really important for us.

Bendtner has been through many a sale and there were no buyers.

    Happy new year Arsenal fans.

    What's to be happy about?

There's clearly something wrong with our medical team and the manager is leaving obvious holes in the squad :)

Arsenal won the most PL points in 2013 .
    For the calendar year.
82 - 5 points more than nearest rivals... now if only there was a bit of silverware for that :D

    Is that for 38 games?

Yeah. City only played 37 though I think (and are 5 points behind us)

OK, you have to hope for something good today.

    City away to Swans

    Chelsea away to Saints

    Utd vrs Tottenham

Now that I've said this, we'll probably drop points to Cardiff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,828 ✭✭✭gosplan

    Further to last post ...

    City without Silva and Ageuro

Chelsea without Lampard, Ivan and Luiz.

If we want to be in the hunt for this league, we have to hope Chelsea and City will drop points in games like these.

I guess City would still be likely to win but this is a really tough game for Chelsea.

Tough decision by wenger today, does he rest giroud or not?

I think resting him against spurs would better.

Oh, Ha. Well then it's Bendtner or pod.

I'd go bendy boots, I have a bit of a soft spot for him and his antics

Will it be Bendtner up front do you think or will he go for one of Wally or Podolski I wonder.

Any word on the team for today?

I think Wenger might be exaggerating injury news so that he can rotate a bit.
I can see Monrael, Podolski and Bendtner starting.

ive had the same feeling. Im still suspicious about Ozil! You can add Giroud to that list :pac:

Giroud was limping after receiving a kick against Newcastle so I can understand him being rested.
Ozil is supposed to have a shoulder injury received in training. Could be bluff.

Well Ollie did take a knock to the ankle, but i'm sure he's fine and could play if we really needed him. I'm certain its a rest situation without coming out and saying they're being rested. it would no doubt give cardiff extra motivation if he came out and said "yeah we're resting a load of lads as cardiff are the easiest game we have had in a couple of weeks". Cardiff would be like "cheeky bastards, we'll show them"

I would expect all teams to come out like that against us anyway. They usually do.

Here is news of our injuries though --

Arsenal: Walcott (doubt – shoulder), Rosicky (doubt – calf), Wilshere (doubt – ankle), Monreal (doubt – illness), Vermaelen (doubt – illness), Giroud (ankle), Ramsey (thigh), Ozil (shoulder), Gibbs (calf), Sanogo (back), Diaby (knee), Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee).

Park might be on the bench today given those injuries ... none look too serious though, hopefully.

Swansea have equalised against City (only HT mind).

Chelsea have a tough game at the saints. Hopefully it's another one of those perfect weekends for us :D

Swansea are playing well but city squandered so many chances that first half.

    BBC saying

Jacqui Oatley, BBC Radio 5 live
    Arsenal v Cardiff (1500 GMT)
Vincent Tan and Ole G Solskjaer have just walked past us into the Emirates. They arrived in a car together.

New manager in the stand could spur them on a bit

It could also make them very nervous or very ambitious and they might make plenty of mistakes and concede goals. Then Ole might say that he wants nothing to do with such a bunch of no-hopers and leave early on his own.

    Monrael in for Gibbs.
    Podolski in for Giroud.
    Arteta for Rosicky.
Apart from that it's the same as at Newcastle.

Arsenal team to play Cardiff City: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Flamini, Arteta, Wilshere, Walcott, Cazorla, Podolski

Subs: Fabianski, Vermaelen, Jenkinson, Rosicky, Ryo, Gnabry, Bendtner

    Come on you Gunners!!!
And happy new year everybody!!! I hope come May we are the team with most points in 2014!!!

Midfield looks solid and glad Monreal is fit. Be interesting to see how Pod gets on up front (assuming it's him not Theo), I'm not convinced he's lone striker material. I'd have dropped Wilshere, stuck Pod on the left, Theo on the right and Bendtner up front.

Wtf do I know though anyway :pac:

    City now on top.
All we can do is keep winning.
Early goal today to settle us and no more injuries.
    A nice harmonious victory required.
