Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would be nice to stick 4 or 5 past somebody. Haven't really been doing that this season, shows how good the defence has been. As usual would take a 1-0 win though.
Wow that hurts, Cant we just be friends and play out a 1 1 draw :(

How about a reversal of the season opener? That hurt too!

Sorry dude we need the points badly. We need to win every week to stop the oil barons from winning the title. We're the plucky little underdogs vs the evil rich bullies.

How much of a transfer budget do we actually have?

We're looking at a budget of 50-70m per season from now on. As I said, we're the plucky underdogs.

Though Wenger only spends when he gets what he considers to be value.

So that means that we only have between 5 & 25m for this month? Being that Ozil cost €45m in September.

Think it was £70m mentioned in the summer. There could be conceivable be more as there should be more money in the club from ticket sales etc. and the team itself is in a good position...

    :(

Seems like he's back but being given extra recovery time probably because of his injury history and the amount of games he has played already. We should win without him.

Another good 3pts away from home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,175 ✭✭✭Irish Aris

I would really appreciate it if they can all sit together and see the second half as an example on how not to play.

Another 3 points, another week on top, the saga continues!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,875 ✭✭✭djan

Very happy to get the 3 points but a very poor display by Arsenal. After the other top 7 team all picking up points we should have been fired up to play we didn't create many chances and were quite lucky to be 2-0 up then after the goals old arsenal came in and we were complacent which lead to the usual letting the other team in near the end. Defence and Szczez played well but the rest were hit and miss. Glad we got the points but against a Vila side that are playing poorly should have won by a much higher margin.

That second half was abysmal from Arsenal.
Took their foot off the pedal as they thought they had it won.
A game lasts 90 minutes plus.
Some of them need their arse kicked especially Santi with his silly give aways.

It was a very lax performance tonight. I wonder if Ozil's nature is rubbing off on the rest of the team. It seems that the phrase "so laid back he's horizontal" was invented for him

Oh sorry thought that was them all, my bad!

We have Sunderland, Swansea and Stoke between Utd and the really difficult run.
But the "spirit" of your post is right (If I have understood you correctly): Between March 15th and April 5th we will know if we can win the league or not.

To be fair to Ozil he was the only player trying to hold onto the ball for the final minutes whereas others couldn't wait to give it away to Villa!

He made more key passes than anyone else tonight, that's his game. Others should stick to theirs.

I think Villa tonight were the worst side we faced this season yet they put us under pressure when we allowed them back into the game.

We should take no team lightly from now on.

They're a poor team but they have already beaten us and City this season.

I think that's harsh on Villa. They showed great spirit and fight in the last 20 odd minutes. Could have snatched a draw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,161 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

There were times at the end of the first half where retaining possession was so easy that the very thought of being under pressure in the last 10 minutes was laughable. I said earlier in this thread Arsenal haven't been hammering teams by 4 and 5 this season, they really should have put more past villa before Benteke got anywhere near scoring. Not ruthless enough, but thankfully didn't cost them again. They're getting the job done, I'll give them that. Making it far harder than it should be though.

I honestly think that this was due to us being too relaxed and thinking we had the game won. Players started trying fancy stuff when they should have been more precise with their passing. Their goal came from dreadful play by Cazorla when there was no need for the little flicks.

Where did you see that reported?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,300 ✭✭✭HazDanz

We won. Away. Let's move on to the next one.

Ozil I thought was very good tonight. So composed on the ball, always trying to make the ball go forward towards goal in an intelligent way.

Wilshere in the middle is just super at the minute. Ramsey will have to fight to get that place back if Wilshere keeps going as he is.

Also, Mert. Loving the rage towards Cazorla after that goal went in!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,428 ✭✭✭.jacksparrow.

Ozil is just frustrated, he has no one making runs in front of him to work his magic.

Ramsey and Theo were ideal for his play.

Emm yes, perhaps I should have mentioned that.... The Daily Star -:o

And also seeing that Rosicky has a possible broken nose and Monreal a potentially broken Metatarsal

    Ramsey 13 (8)
    Giroud 12 (9)
    Walcott 6 (5)
    Ozil 5 (4)
    Wilshere 5 (3)
    Podolski 3 (3)
    Mertesacker 2 (2)
    Bendtner 2 (2)
    Cazorla 2 (1)
    Rosicky 1 (0)
    Flamini 1 (1)
    Arteta 1 (1)
    Gnabry 1 (1)
    Eisfeld 1 (0)
    Sagna 1 (1)
    Gibbs 1 (0)

That makes Giroud our top marksman in the EPL. Good on him.

    +1

Not just Ramsey and Walcott we miss making those runs, Giroud makes awful runs, loves standing behind defenders ready to flick a ball on or hold it up instead of making an intelligent run.

Yeah the lack of runners was always going to hurt Özil's game.

I thought Gnarby would provide some of those runs tonight.

Jack was the only one making any movement, with one through ball Özil shredded Villa open that lead to our goal.

Watching the game tonight, you can see why we are being linked with Draxler.Bit more pace and movement is badly needed. He reminds me of a young Kaka a bit too, similar build, power, can carry the ball long distances.
