Unfortunately our game team pretty much picks itself these days.

With Marseille away tonight (possibly the easiest of the 3 away games) and then 2 home ties to follow, is it too much to ask for 3 wins from our 3 first games ? It would put us in a very strong position with the 2 tough away games in Germany and Italy. Even if we lose both of those a home win against Marseille might well send us through.

Thinking of putting a fiver on Walcott for first scorer tonight. Won't actually be able to see the game as I'm going to see Roger Waters at the Aviva.

This is the most crucial game for us in this group. Anything other than a win will make it hard for us to get out of the group. We also need to be winning the return tie at home at least one of the other home games if we are to have a chance.

It would be wrong to assume that our home games are going to be easy - I'd take 7 pts now in a heartbeat.

But i think we've shown enough this year to think that getting out of the group is very doable albeit tricky - I'm sure the other teams are fearing us a lot more than we are of them.

Dunphy would say Ozil is a 'Nothing Player' because he is a) German and Dunphy doesn't rate German teams or players and b) "Not good enough" for Real Madrid because they got rid of him.

Can we afford to wait that long? Kos hasnt had a great start to the season at all.

I think people and the media are over stating this to massive effect, yes his tackle in the last game was rash and stupid. But the Villa game which keeps getting dragged up by the media he was very hard done by. He hasn't been terrible it's just the media need something to nit pick at.

I'd still have him in my team over Verm everyday of the week on the form Verm showed over the last two seasons.

I think Verm needs a cup run before getting back into a league or CL team.

It's only natural that he would be a bit rusty after spending all that time out.

koscielny needs a kick up the ass in that case so. I want vermaelen to be pushing him for his place to keep him on his toes.

I'm not disputing that.

I would ask though why he 'needs a kick up the arse'. Do you think he's been playing poorly on purpose? Dropping players isn't the only solution; in fact it's often counter productive.

Not on purpose but it might have something to do with the fact he has had no competition for his spot. Maybe its too early to bring Vermahalen back but he needs to concentrate more. He is costing us goals

He's only played 4 matches this season; 2 good, 2 bad. He's our most proven partner for Per so yeah, I would.

I'm assuming the 2 bad is the peno and the red card and then the last game? other than those incidents he played well in those games I thought. The Sunderland game he was robbed on two accounts the peno and the red.

I think his form has been fine its just the moments over overdrive!

Yeah possibly, I was rather simplifying for the sake of argument (my point was that it'd be counter productive to drop him after so few games, regardless of what exactly his form was).

last season koscielny had an air of confidence about him that I think has been missing so far this season. He seemed to be over the stupid mistakes. He's made two in four games so far. Maybe it is too early after four games to be talking about dropping him but with Vermahelan back fit (if he is fit) he should be considered.


Kos will more then likely start tonight so hopefully he has a brilliant game.

Re. Kos it should be remembered that against Villa he and Per had absolutely zero protection from midfield, the balance to our mid was all wrong that game, a fact Wenger has admitted himself and against Sunderland he actually had a good game IMO and again allowance's should be made for the fact he had for all intents and purposes a completely new/rookie CB partner beside him, Per and Kos are are number one CB pairing no question and infact are IMO in the top 2/3 pairings in the league.

I think Koscielny (and our defence in general) is missing Arteta. Although he's not your typical defensive midfielder, he provides as good a protection as anyone in that position. Looking forward to his return so we can look as secure at the back as we did during the end of last season.

Arsenal beat Marseille 4-1 in the youth CL. Gnabry scored twice, hes an incredible talent.
Will probably be seeing some game time in the league soon, replacing Walcott off the bench etc.
