Yeah but he joined Arsenal when he grew up and became a pro which proves that players are professionals and dont get caught up in the emotional stuff at the end of the day and why should they. Now you could argue he might not have realised the proximity of the two clubs but to be honest we are basing our theory of RVP being an Arsenal fan on him wearing an Arsenal shirt back in 1996 when he wasnt even in his teens and besides, why should he be bound for the rest of his life to be loyal to Arsenal ? Things change. People change and ideologies change over time. Fans need to get over the tribalism that bit. By all means love your club and slag others but dont get too emotionally involved because quite frankly the club is out of our hands and in the hands of millionaires (owners, managers, and players) who dont give a sh*t. We're probably spoiled in a sense we have Arsene Wenger who has stuck with us for so long when many would have jumped for 10c extra per week. One of a dying breed who has true integrity

Ozil would be more prolific for the final passes he plays into wingers.

I think he will be very effective with Podolski and Walcott. We saw the chances he made for Walcott on his debut ha.

Here's hoping. Not bad when you have to chose between Ozil, Cazorla, Walcott, Podolski, Oxo and Giroud for your front 3. Then you've the likes of Bendtner, Ganabry and Sanogo knocking around too.

not if you make more posts that could be misconstrued as trolling but thankfully Ramsey has been so great recently it's obvious you just posting in jest, gwan the Ramsey Injuries well and truely behind him and he is showing true class atm, really hope he can keep up this form and fair play to Wenger for sticking with him after his injury although considering Diaby, Rosicky etc there wasn't really any doubt about that now was there. All coming up roses for Wenger and Arsene atm look forward to seing can they maintain it when the difficult run of fixtures kicks in soon

Boys I look at uniteds mess at the moment and its all being blamed on Moyes. I feel it should fall at Fergies door, poorly invested in youth, didnt integrate players and basically had a "win now" team. Then I look at us and I see the youth system, the integration of young British players with the likes of a 25 year old who happens to be one of the best players in the world, sound financially too. Sure Wenger hasnt won anything in 8 years but he has set us up for the next 10-15 I feel which could be more important. I know the day Arsene leaves which will be a massive loss, he will have left us in a a very good situation.

Let's hope they don't have 2 new manager in place by the time we play them.

In fairness I don't think Fergie left the team in that bad shape save for leaving them very light in midfield. Remember that we were in for Smalling and Zaha. He also brought in De Gea, Jones (overpriced but that's the English tax for you), Powell, Januzaj, the two Brazilian full backs Fabio and Rafael with a view to the future. He brought through Cleverly and Welbeck to the first team squad via some shrewd loan deals.

He also supplemented this with some high profile experienced expensive signings in Van Persie and Kagawa.

All in all not a bad squad he left United, bit of work to do on it but what's happened this season is that you've got the shadow of Fergie looming over Moyes and teams think they have a chance against United now so they go for it whereas in the past they would be tentative to come out of their own half out of fear, thus handing the initiative to United.

It's a poison chalice David Moyes was handed but he hasn't helped himself by trying to impose what worked for him at Everton on this United side. He appears to be tactically naive with what he has at his disposal, has struggled to integrate certain players, in particular Kagawa, is unfortunate in that injuries seem to have caught up with Vidic, Father Time has caught up with Ferdinand and Valencia and Young have regressed at a rather astounding rate.

I fully expect us to struggle to get a result at Old Trafford because they'll be expecting us to come and dominate and as such will probably be the underdogs if our form stays solid - it'll suit them down to the ground. They're a cracking counter attacking unit when they click.

United will be looking to make a statement against us especially if our good form continues between now and then.

Flamini out of tomorrow's game...I know we've bodies to cover for him. But I think our defense will be exposed without him.

Shame but it would have been crazy to risk him.
He looked totally out of it and dont you need 5 days rest after concussion?

He demanded to play on! I was watching it on a stream and the commentator said Flamini said to the doctor 'of course im going back on'.

    What a man :pac:

He will be a loss to us but we are the home team and I still think we will win. A draw wouldnt be too bad a result either I reckon. But we should be trying to win our home games always.

You mean they will be trying to make a statement, going by their recent form "trying" and "being able" to are two different things. I would expect Moyes will set up to stifle our midfield, if we get an early goal that plan will be out the window and they would need to react, possibly making it easier for us to go on an get the win.

Let's just hope our form carries on until then first.

All that talk last night about when RVP left us made me look at some youtube videos of him playing against us, two teams are queuing up in the tunnel and he high fives and hugs everyone and he gets to Sagna who just gives him the stare of death :D

...which led me to another video of Sagna in the tunnel, awkward!

Flamini will be a loss vs Dortmund. Will imagine It will be Arteta and Ramsey in the double pivot and they will have to work very hard to counter Dortmunds attacking strength. I dont think there will be any other changes to the team that faced Norwich.

Really looking forward to It. Dortmund play great football and It will be a good challenge for this team. I expect them to perform though.

Had a chance to see Arsenal for the very first time live this Saturday and have to thank all of you Irish fans (there was quiet a lot travelling for this game) for what was a great match and great atmosphere.
One thing is that last 10 minutes of first half and start of the second on were a bit depressing, and this is something to look at to make sure we keep the ball or at least control the game a little better. Needless to say the gunners made it up later so no complaints there.
Definitely going back very soon to experience it again.
I liked Gibbs in that game - totally different perspective to look at the player and how much effort he has to put in to make it work. You can't see it on tv.

Klopp said he'd be up for coming to manage in England some day. Would be the absolute perfect succesor to Arsene

You may recall RVP going in very high on Sagna in one of the games last season, a mark of the man he is.

he certainly would be but for now let's just focus on hopefully making him board a plane back to Germany with his tail between his legs.

Slightly afraid of some sort of Palace backlash on Saturday after that. All things considered though, we should murder them.

Absolutely, I agree we should roast Palace, iirc though its a been a bit of a graveyard for us in Selhurst in terms of getting results in recent memory when they've been up in the PL.

Why cares about RVP, he's playing for some midtable team nowadays.

    Good luck to him.

Anyone else really excited about tonight?

Some super top quality on display :P

If we come out with the same hunger to win as we did against Napoli we will be very hard to stop.

Stupid match being at stupid 4.45am!

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,333 ✭✭✭bad2dabone

I’m really looking forward to tonight – game of the season so far, two teams who do it right, two clubs who do things the right way too, Dortmund are a classy outfit and it’s impossible to dislike Kloppo (unless you’re the official that he let rip at recently!)
Honestly I don’t know which way it will go, Klopp said it will hinge on the little things and he’s dead right. There’s no doubt we have the quality to win. There’s no doubt they have too! I worry about Aboomerangs pace, but we’ve been decent enough at the back and Sczcesny’s up for this one.

Dream scenario would be a nice 3-1 win with a sneaky chat on the side between Arsene and Lewandowski.
Also interesting that Chesney and Lewandowski speak on a daily basis – could we be in the running for him since Bayern’s interest has cooled?

Wonder why Wenger neglected the spot flamini holds now for so many years when we could all see we needed someone like him there. Anyway least it's sorted now!

Probably for the same reason he neglected the goalkeeping position for years by ploughing on with Almunia until Sir Chesney was ready. Money. Flamini was available at the right price.

All these talk that we have to contain them, let's not forget tey have to contain us too we have so many options from midfield now they just can't sit on one player

The biggest thing ok looking forward to tonight is seen how we handle the high pressing game, every team we played so far this season was stand offish were Dortmund will press is hard and high up the field, with that in mind I would have played arteta/Ramsey anyway as they are better on the ball

I'm going for a 3-1 win for is with my main man Ramsey running the show again, they will press ozil so much that Ramsey will find the space and make them runs past giroud again. Think he will bag one again tonight

It's the most improved area of the team imo this season. Just fantatsic having it sured up now.

Was saying it for ages that we needed a proper DMF player that is just there to break up opponents attacking play and people were saying the game has moved on and that a true DMF isnt needed. The difference Flamini makes to the team is scary, the minute he went off on Saturday Norwich had there best spell of the game and looked dangerous and we looked vulnerable. We talk about Ozil being a great signing but Flamini is every bit as good and is a vital player for the team.
