Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Most undeserved title in a long time...also one of the dullest finals in recent years. Hard luck to Mayo. Roll on the Hurling!

Did Mayo never hear of a hail mary. That was criminal what that Mayo guy did. He may as well have just give a dub player the ball and walked off the pitch

    Can't understand his decision.

Awful stuff that, compounded by stupid point taking by Mayo when it was clear that only a goal would do. ****house tactics from Dirty Dubs.

What an absolute clown taking the point instead of going for goal at the end.

Why the **** did he not have a shot, two chances to go somehow get a goal, point taken both times. Don't understand it.

A few mayo players ran to the ref. He must have told them there was time for a kick out.

    That's a poor strategy

Similar to a rugby player refusing to kick a ball out of play with his team in the lead and the 80 mins compete.

What an awful game. Neither team deserved to win in all honesty, and what was with that dope kicking the ball for a point when he needed a goal to win? Hilarious

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,576 ✭✭✭garv123

There was 45 seconds left when the foul was committed.. The ball should have gotten tapped over and played the last 30 seconds again.. instead it was pushing and shoving for the 45 plus seconds and then it was tapped over.

Jaysus I always thought Bottler was from Dublin turns out the bottlers are from Mayo.

Sorry but having listened to the drivel of 'Mayo's name is on Sam' and 'it's our year' for the last week was nauseating.

Ah i dont agree with that now. I was praying for Mayo to steal it but steal it is what they would have done. Dublin were far better. Mayo were like kids up against men.

That still doesn't explain it. He isn't the timekeeper. He knew a goal was needed. No leadership at all at a crucial leadership time. Unreal.

The sooner they get the Women's clock into Men's Football the better.

Regardless, Mayo was crazy wasting time and not going for the goal

Can't understand that decision by mayo to go for a point at the end. Crazy. Dublin probably deserved the win but for the neutral it was a poor game, especially after the way both teams played on the way to the final.

Only team that gave Dublin any run this year were Meath

Mayo obviously didn't do their homework

Seems they preferred the silly power/head game stuff

Surprised at Horan, thought he'd moved on from the immature Maughan stuff.

Is Cluxton even around to collect the trophy this year?

well done dublin. Mayo will be sick when they watch that again Dublins first 3 or 4 scores came from basic mayo mistakes.

Why in the name of god did Cillian O'Connor kick that free over the bar. They had one last chance to get a goal to win the game and for some unknown reason he went for a point.I don't think Mayo are ever going to win an all Ireland they just dont seem to have enough composure to win in finals

  • Administrators Posts: 54,110 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Mayo were terrible IMO. Dublin looked better in the second half.

There came a point when Dublin were clearly happy to just foul Mayo at every opportunity to waste some time.

But, the best team still won despite the unfortunate Dublin tactics toward the end. Moronic from O'Connor to take so long with the free and then put it over for a point.

I admire that Dublin came back, made the changes and saw the game out but Mayo should have been out the gap at half time...the ref also should have shown at leas 2 red cards to Dublin players. not really bothered as it's football.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,715 ✭✭✭✭walshb

BTW, did either of the commentators even mention the Mayo player kicking the point when time was practically up?

Cannot understand why he didn't just stick it over as soon as the foul was given if he was gonna do it anyway.

If it's this frustrating to watch Mayo when you're not even a supporter of them, I'd imagine their actual supporters are near suicidal.

    Yesssss!

Sorry for Mayo but thought the Dubs were better on the day - don't think it was really as tight as one point.

Didn't like to see the b$ullsh$t fouling in the last few minutes but delighted Cluxton said a few words
