Don't forget a lot of the evidence has not been made public to avoid the "jigsaw effect". There is a lot more to this case than is evident from the reporting. Unless the alleged victim waives her anonymity it will never be made public.

Sometimes the stuff that hasn't been reported enables people to put the pieces together. I think this might be one of those cases.

Absolutely. It has been censored because it would identify the accuser. That's the point?

The evidence is so specific to both the defendant and the witnesses that it would identify the alleged victim.

There was significant evidence and witness testimony that could not be reported. They haven't spent the last week on the relatively small amount of detail we know!

Even if he does that and he proves she is lying (very unlikely he'll go down that road) she will not be identified. She is guaranteed anonymity for life unless she choses to waive it.
    that is unfair

But it is the law. Her identity is protected for life unless she choses to waive it.
That is not reliant on a conviction.

One can argue that it's unfair but it's there to protect victims and encourage them to come forward. Sometimes when a victim comes forward they are followed by further victims... though not in this case.

Lets face it I wouldn't need to be Miss Marple. The broadsheets have made it pretty clear through what has been reported!
i wasn't asking if you were trying to work out her id. i meant does jigsaw mean trying to work out id? I now understand it does

    That's exactly what it means.
In my opinion both the Guardian and The Telegraph identified her last week in their reporting. They didn't name her but the details they reported made it very clear.

I'm not going to speculate but the reports are on their sites.

Very tame stuff from the prosecutors, they have nothing to go on.

The headline in the mirror is just disgusting:
Michael Le Vell denies drinking to hide the shame of being a child rapist

    The gutter press.

Is this not from the Daily Star?

Her identity is protected if he is found not guilty & that's the end of it. But if he then brings a case against her, I'm not sure if that anonymity remains in place.
All completely hypothetical of course. Who knows what the verdict will be yet.

MOD: I don't care what site, newspaper or tweet names or suggests who it was. This is not the place for that. No more no matter how subtle. Lets not lower ourselves to their level, thanks.

You may be right. Maybe I just saw the red letterhead and assumed incorrectly
but either way, mirror star or sun..they're not fit to wipe yer bum.

I can't believe they can print that in big black letters. There is no qualification such as accused or alleged. They write it like a statement of fact.
I hope he's proved innocent if only to stick two fingers up at those bottom feeders.

Her identity will remain protected - despite any case brought by him should he be found not guilty, or in the event of a conviction being overturned at a later stage.

Her identity is protected for life - the only time that changes is if she choses to waive anonymity.

There is nothing reported that they can convict him with.
I think "weak, stupid and drunk" is on the button... I'd add "cheat" to that...

I don't think the Judge ordered a unanimous decision.
There are 12 jurors so they need 10-2 or 11-1 for a majority.
Anything less is a hung jury.

The jury have been sent out for lunch in the Michael Le Vell (the actor who plays the role of Kevin Webster in the popular soap) trial. They will continue to deliberate their verdicts at 2.15pm.

Quite possibly the worst piece of journalism I have ever read. Mail on line says 'DEFENCE say girl is telling absolute truth and deserves guilty....'

This is a headline on the third bullet point. How could they get it so wrong!
