The inaugural 150 KM chip-timed cycle sportive through Connemara in aid of Croí took place on Sunday the 1st of September.

The event was a huge success with cyclists conquering the mammoth challenge between 4 and 7 hours.

Participants were met with perfect weather conditions and spectacular views of the picturesque Western countryside as they traversed the many climbs along the route.

This event is sure to become a regular event in the cycling calendar and gather momentum in the future!

Did anyone attend this year's event? and what did you make of it?

Who's up for the challenge next year? Entry for the Etape 2014 event will be opening shortly so keep and eye on the Official Etape Website and Facebook

I was there at the event!

I thought the course was fantastic and we had such good weather for the event on the day. There was such a positive atmosphere in the air as the cyclists took off early in the morning from Croi House, in Newcastle Galway.

I managed to complete the course in just under 5 hours and will be looking to better this time next year!
