    That's just priceless....

    A well thought out post.

He is a member here, send him a PM if you feel so strongly about what he does.

    Ah! It all becomes clear.

Not really. But I know for for a fact you won't PM him, typical keyboard warrior! Nice work!

Whilst I agree with the OP, I'd just like to say that the lane is no longer a "bus lane" when it's not in operation. It is just a normal traffic lane so the keep left rule applies to cars in that they must use it unless while overtaking, turning right or in slow moving traffic.

Ha ha. I'll prove something by sending him a PM? It's not like calling him outside to settle things like men now is it?

"If you're going to criticise him at least have the decency of sending him a PM!"

    Interesting viewpoint....

Whats his username here ....... I wouldn't mind PM'ing him myself

I'm guessing it's either Monument or Zyzz ?

Although I do not agree with his manner , I do find his one-liners rather witty from time to time.

Only thing is when he uses his kids as a moral counter-weight to support his arguments - bad taste

i wouldn't mind getting a video of a woman i have seen several times cycling the wrong way around stephen's green west (i.e. coming from the RCSI to grafton street), who rings her bell furiously at the pedestrians streaming out in front of her - who have the green light, but she can't see because she's got no red light facing her, due to going the wrong way on a one way street.
the indignation on her face is well worth seeing.

You're guessing wrong. I won't spoon-feed you the answer, but you can find it out pretty easily. Hint: use the search function.

Yeah but 1.5m is bloody long and impossible to maintain in an urban environment. Just in case you think I'm an angry motorist I'm not, I'm primarily a cyclist :P It's perfectly easy to maintain both a safe distance from the kerb and other traffic whilst not being in the way of faster moving vehicles as I imagine you're already aware of. If that 1.5m was actually enforced city traffic would grind to a halt instantly.

As a cyclist I'd be well annoyed to be held up after a day in work by two people cycling abreast on a city lane toodling along. (having said that, I'm slightly less bothered as in this case it was a buslane whiiiiich is kinda like a bonus lane anyway)

Whays annoys me as a cyclist is others not using the cycle lanes provided and thus being a danger on the road and then getting all self righteous

I see it every day, esp on the n4 inbound - there is a lane provide that keeps the bikes from the traffic yet you see all the power rangers on the n4. Prob the same ones that lobbied for the lane in the first place but they dont need to use it cos theyre on 2000e bikes dressed like lance

Use the lane where provided - remove a lot of risk/issues

He has 400+ videos on his Youtube account and, as far as I can tell, they're all "issues" he encounters on his travels. So I'd say his average daily commute is far from uneventful.

The guy clearly sets out to cause trouble. He confronts people even when they've done nothing to him. In one video he confronts people for not wearing seat belts. What sort of person does that...and then posts it on Youtube??

I think you mean to say he confronts a mother of two children who are not wearing seatbelts. Fair play to him!

To be fair, if you can't spot them while driving you probably shouldn't be driving in the first place.

Please, find me one single instance of cycling infrastructure in this country, for which cycling campaigners have been consulted. I'm not even asking for an example where the campaigners gave their approval, just a case where their opinion was even sought in the first place.
but they dont need to use it cos theyre on 2000e bikes dressed like lance

And since we're into fine and meaningful stereotypes, a slightly more accurate one would be that those cyclists are the strongest opponents to any type of dedicated infrastructure.

There is a strong possibility that the world is not as simple as you think.

If its the section between Newcastle rd and Ballyeoin rd junctions, please try not to hit the pedestrians using it: the 15cm strip of pavement not marked as cycle path is a bit narrow for them - especially for the lady with the buggy who uses it daily.

Aside from that, the legal requirement to use cycle lanes was removed for a reason: stats show you are something like 30% more likely to have an accident in them compared to using the road, "remove a lot of risk/issues" : the opposite is true.

Would love to use the lane at Lucan (Penny Hill), but it is routinely strewn with broken Budweiser / Vodka bottles. In fairness to the council, they clean it when I email them, but it's a losing battle. So the bus lane is much safer in this situation for me to use.

This was discussed here somewhere on boards.ie before at length and it's not actually that clear what happens to bus lanes out of hours.

In some cases the lane clearly becomes marked parking or taxi bays and sometimes the intent is that it is it is parking without marked boxes.

One view was that out-of-hours bus lanes 'revert' to hard shoulders.

    Where on the N4?

Is it not a bit self righteous to call them self righteous and then randomly claim that they probably lobbied for the lane in the first place? :)

In fairness, while cycling campainers may have been only consulted directly in one or two or a few cases, there have been many cases where cycling campaigners have been consulted via the open public consultation process.

@OP.. off topic slightly but your sig says it all

What do you mean by that exactly?

Should see some of the "cycle lanes" I come across. It's hilarious how terrible they are.

Zyzz claims to be cycledub - you say i'm wrong ?

You'll have to give me a better hint - what shall I enter in the search facility ?

Hassling a mother ? - cycledub claims the two girls are in their late teens !
Surely they can put on their own seatbelt no ?????

    Anyway - scrap the PM

I'd like to say to cycledub :
You are missing out on a wonderful life.
You only get one chance at it, don't waste it with anger.

This is how you will be remembered - be nice, and let live.

I used to go around beeping people who disrespected me on the road - but now I just relax, if somebody makes an error I will give them the nod and say 'no problem' - it's a nicer community than the angry one.

I will still tear up an arrogant swine who disrespects me on purpose though, but only if it is warranted.

On a slightly seperate note - I think abusing people who may be of a fragile disposition is risky.
A lot of people with severe depression in this country - sometimes it can take something like this to tip them over the edge.

Consider their feelings too Cycledub, even if they are in the wrong.

I think I'm going to become Cycledub II. Except I'm going to record all the cyclists who break traffic lights on main roads. Not the odd pedestrian light with no pedestrians, but main junctions on busy dual carriageways/ city centre rush hour traffic. Does my head in EVERY morning. Especially the ones with all the hi-vis gear and flashing lights. Or your man this morning who, 3 mins after blazing through a red light in rush hour traffic near Leeson St, bollicked a pedestrian out of it for daring to try and break a red pedestrian light.

No wonder other road users care little for us.

    Rant over.

    Lads,
Can we cut out the petty sniping and get back to the topic at hand.

    Thank you

I think the original question has been covered and the final conclusion appears to be grey.

It's down to personal interpretation of the rules and more importantly one's cycling attitude ........ hence the bridge references to Cycledub

It's all relevant - all about cycling etiquette

Not sure how you thought Zyzz claimed to be CycleDub, because he didn't.

But OK, you seem genuinely interested, so here you go. If you search something like this, you quickly find posts such as this post or this post. That should leave you with little doubt.

There's nothing wrong with public discussion, but it's only fair play at least to attract his attention to those posts, so that he has a chance to express his side of the story (assuming he's at all motivated to do this).
