So a week and a half to go and online registrations are well up on this day last year!

90% up in fact! Looks like there will be a great crowd descend on Dungarvan, Kilkenny on the 17th. (See what I did there ;))

The sandwich makers and cake bakers are being lined up as we speak.

That's all that matters at the end of the day is it not... ;):D

Are there pacers at this race?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,182 ✭✭✭Beef

    Sherpa's I'd say, nevermind pacers.

We've opted not to have pacers this year. The profile of the course means that it is not a race that should be even paced, therefore it would be down to personal preference in effect making the purpose of pacers defunct.

Back to the old style racing I say!

    Stook 10 FAQ:

    Q. Will I be sore?
If you ran hard enough, yes. But in a good way.

Very tempted by this as I'll likely be in Kikenny anyway.

Haven't done much running at all over the last month so I'm unsure if I'd even get through this...but really need something to motivate me..

Are there likely to be entries on the day?

At the moment there will be entries on the morning (€25). But if this changes and we are getting close to our entry limit I'll give the heads up here.

Signed up for this. Really looking forward to it after an unsettling run in the Dublin Half Marathon in the Phoenix Park when I ran while being sick. That mistake won't be repeated.

Adrian 522, I think you will really enjoy this run. It is a nice, challenging route with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

The countdown to Stook 10 is nearly upon us and organisation is in full flow.

For those in Kilkenny or local, there are training runs of the route both Saturday and Sunday this weekend kicking off at 10am hosted by the Kilkenny Tri Club both days if people want a sneak peek before the big day.

We are also getting excited about our cheering zone which will be at the crest of Stook, with the remit to create as much noise as possible. When people round the corner from this, the flying mile then awaits! :)

Some good representation around the country now can be seen in registrations including good Dublin representation with runners from Donore Harriers, Lucan Harriers, Bro Pearse, Tallaght, DSD, Clonliffe and Crusaders.

The question is, where are Sportsworld? Do they pack in training for the winter? Slackers! :p:D

:D Our juveniles are living on scraps currently, need all the support we can get!

That was basically just a digger/CL wind up! ;)

You still only jogging it? You are likely to be up at the business end of things..tempted? :)

Have been running every day this week and managed a few strides yesterday, but the legs are whingeing! Wouldn't mind having a pop at the M40 course record (love the way you guys are tickling all of the boxes!), before Gary O'Hanlon turns 40 and spoils everything for us old guys. But really, just down for some fun.

Great to have you down, we're a tad unlucky to clash with the XC in santry on the same day, but that might work in your favour!

Sadly not, I'll be doing a few jobs around the race on Sunday (not to mention the 5 weeks with no running due to injury) - I'll fill you in on the gories after the race.

Yep, online registration will be available until midnight on Friday for €20. People can also register on the morning of the race before 11am for €25 euro.

Really looking forward to it now and we welcome all feedback as we are always looking to improve.

We'll look at putting up some arrow signs next year a couple weeks out for training runs, another first I suspect. ;)

Ok, I bit the bullet and registered and saved €3.25 (can I still get a pint in Kilkenny for that?), even though I'm at a stag the day before, it might keep me honest!

It could make an appearance alight :p

Any recommendations nearby to take the family for a bite afterwards?

The ouncel does a great steak 100m from The finish. Also plenty of good places in Kilkenny. Tell me what you want and I will recommend a few.

As I said the ouncel is good. Also in Kilkenny you won't go far wrong with Kytlers inn beside Dunnes stores or langtoNs in John st. Or if you have small ones marios (plenty cals) has a very small play area for wee kids 400 m from Waterford road exit on ring road towards town. Also a restaurant italien beside it that also has little play area I rhink. It's called primo pasta pizza steak etc

Step House Hotel in Borris is good as well - can you drive back over the mountains? If you're legging it back to dublin then the Arboretum Garden Centre just past Paulstown is good.

I can't argue with you there. 2014 might be a slimmer one. But even when I give you 3 stone your pb is still 20 sec off mine. I love miles 24 25 26 of a marathon. Nearly as much as a snack box. We may go to cologne so and have a bit of fun. Lol
