I'm travelling to Africa soon, and was wondering where in Cork is best for getting travel vaccinations, regarding quality of service and value?

I know there's a place on Union Quay, a place on Patrick's Street and a place in Little Island. Are all the places pretty much the same price-wise?

    Thanks!

According to my sister who travelled throughout Africa "Go to Dr Mike Thompson in Carrigtohill. He runs a dedicated travel clinic in his surgery so he's up to date on what's needed".

She added "just tell them to make sure to take anti malarials religiously [I think she means take them once a year at Christmas- as it happens she got malaria so ignore this part of her advice and just take them as prescribed] and to never ever - no matter what! - drink the water"

PS what are you going there for? Just curious :)

The place on union quay was where I went years ago for travel vaccines. It's handy as they have everything in stock The last time I needed some I just phoned my GP, she ordered them and I came in for the jabs.

Not sure on the pricing, I didn't shop around to be honest.

I went to the place on union quay also and found it good, I liked that you only paid the consultation fee the first time then after that you just went in and got the vaccines from the nurse quickly, even over a year later from the initial consultation. My own gp would charge 50e per appointment and then the vaccine charge on top of that, plus I would be waiting to see him for ages in the waiting room so for me it worked out quicker and cheaper to use them.

Found the place in Little Island super - evening appointment, really informative & price wise no prob! Any place that specialises in travel vaccs is better than GPs in my opinon
