So do many people here do warm ups before their races? I've been finding that it takes me about 3km on the run to get going properly and am wondering if a warm up before the race would help? Would there be any benefit to it after the gap between doing a warm up and the run leg?

    Yes.

Gastrointestinal shunting. The diversion of blood from the stomach to the limbs. Takes about 30 minutes to get going.

That combined with neuromusclar preparation make a warm up essential.

I'd try to warm up in all three disciplines before a race.

does a run warm up really help before an oly or middle distance race when you consider how much time will lapse and the activity done between the run warm up and the actual run
