Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Oh well, on the plus side I don't have the temptation of taking a trip to Rio instead of my wedding next year!

'I didn't fancy our chances before the game' - Dunphy

Funny I could have sworn I heard him say he was optimistic and that Ireland would win.

Cox was so ineffective. Why make that sub? McClean was our best player and he was subbed. My mind boggles.

McClean and JOS were the two who showed intensity

    Ireland aren't going to Brazil.

    Thank you Geoff Shreeves.

Disgraceful. A shameful indictment of the FAI, of the manager and of the football culture in this country.

I said it before the game, there was no justification for the optimism. Playing that way you will be found out against a team worth their salt and tonight it was found out.

Is it possible to stream rte.ie overseas?

Some programs stream. Football matches and other sports only work in Ireland cos of rights issues.

    Trap is stupid indeed.

    We're just long ball merchants.

Depressing but true. Its like a trip back in time 25 years....but without the quality of players we had then.
In truth we don't deserve to qualify, we were awful from the time we went ahead tonight. Lots of long hoofing balls up the pitch with no real plan or meaninful attempt to create chances.

Why didn't Andy Reid come on?
Really could have done with himself and Colin healy in midfield.

Desperate, turgid stuff. Trap should have went after the Euros everyone knows it.

The real shame is Pilkington's beard won't be seen on a World Cup stage.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,793 ✭✭✭Red Kev

What's the point of Sweden being in Brazil?

They'll finish 2nd in group and then lose to England in 2nd round

At least we'll bring comedy value

Sweden's gain is the worlds loss.

You said as an irish soccer fan. If you enjoyed that as an Irish fan, fair play. Results are most important in soccer.

McClean was Ireland's best player imo.

It's funny, though, we keep hearing that the team needs to play it on the ground more, but on the occasions that they did so, many of them - Whelan, Wilson, for instance - couldn't seem to pass the bloody ball.

Whelan in particular is not going to take us forward in the long-term and we need a new central midfielder desperately.

Thing is Sweden aren't that good, if we played to our strengths and not using the pathetic fossilized tactics of the Italian we could have won. Against Germany we will be facing another cricket score with this manager in charge!

    He's old.
    He's senile.
We just need to find out his parents marital status, what he said could be completely true.

At least the FAI will save a few quid now that that drunken embarrassment Delaney won't be throwing free drinks at anyone who looks in his direction next year...

    Drunken oafs out!!

Fcuk them.. they didn't deserve to get anywhere near qualification. None of them deserve it..

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,067 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

When Liam Brady says he has to go and it is not good then you know it is time. I was one of the ones who supported Trap an dI admit I was wrong.
