Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    the enemy? really?

Half Time 1-1. A bit disappointing tbh. We kinda knocked off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

It's been a good half. Pity about the equaliser, but they probably deserved that since Larsson had missed a sitter.

This looks like it's going to be a nail-biter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,304 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

A decent half, certainly enough to show we can win this.

Unfortunetly we have let Sweden back in it and given them far too much of the ball.

Anyone else think Coleman has been fairly quiet and unadventurous?

    I think its humour.

Thought oshea was at fault for the goal, as he should have won that header he fannied out of, which that led Sweden to get that free and possession for the goal.

Belgium just took the lead. 1-0.

If you don't keep possession, if you drop your tempo and you allow that kind of space in front of the back four it's almost inevitable that any team worth their salt will capitalise and that's exactly what Sweden did.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,906 ✭✭✭✭PhlegmyMoses

Keeper absolutely fouled him there. Ref would have bottled it, though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,224 ✭✭✭jimjamcos

Walters adds very little to Ireland. His workrate/strength is offset by his total lack of an end-product. Surely it's worth sacrificing him for Hoolahan who could come inside for possession and actually play Coleman in at some point, who is totally under-used.

I think he's there to take the pens.

Dunphy does hit best to "praise the lads", keane, long, mcclean are all top lads apparently

Both sides are very even, more graft than actual quality. Ibrahimovic provides a guile in the final third that we simply don't possess.

Nobody dropping between the lines at all, Keane and Shane Long has to be one of the most one dimensional partnerships going.

Long has to be one of the most overrated forwards. I struggle to see what he is actually good at apart from chasing defenders and being a nuisance. Still makes him better than any of our other options though.

why dont we play it out of defence instead of these never ending long balls that 90% of the time dont seem to work?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,988 ✭✭✭SirDelboy18

The amount of long balls is depressing. At least Shane Long is awkward for the Swedes to deal with.
