Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What would be users thoughts on a Boards.ie Soccer talkshow?

    Hi guys,

I don't post here much but I am a long time lurker, I do notice an awful lot of soccer fans on here and this section of the forum has got to be one of the busiest on the site which of course is great to see.

I have noticed on here on more then one occasion people talking about "off the balls" demise and radio chat shows...

I am just wondering would anyone be interested in maybe getting involved in an online talkshow maybe once a week? I have radio experience (pirate only) and I have done shows like this before. The only issue really is participation and I can't see that being an issue on here.

Online chatshows are easily setup, people can call in and chat about whatever is going on in the sport and there is also a chat function involved for users to comment.
I don't know if this something people may be interested in or whether boards.ie itself would be interested in exploring these avenues but it is something I could defiantly help put together one night a week.

    Thoughts?

Good idea or not? 37 votes

I think a couple of guys have a podcast going. The Rugby forum already have what you are proposing run by the guy that does the football podcast.

A podcast could definitely work, seems to be the up and coming thing on fan sites.

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

If your taking in the Marcotti role then I dibs being Balague, I could definitely rattle off a few rumours with no basis in reality.

It'd be entertaining for all the wrong reasons.

Believe me that's a role I could do. I could probably offer a few minutes to other goings on in La Liga.

I've heard of these being done I'm just not sure how it's technically done and put together.

If done properly you could be well onto something as there are a lot of knowledgeable posters on here when it comes to LOI, Premiership, SPL, Bundesliga and La Liga. There also seems to be a few who know about South America, Australia and the MLS so there potentially could be a little something for everyone.

I'd see myself as the Italian version of Sid Lowe.... just without all that ability stuff....

Oh, and I will obviously pull a James Horncastle, by pronouncing every Italian word in a heavy accent, so everyone knows I speak Italian.

I was hoping to be regular Spanish corresponding Sid Lowe but I've been pigeon holed as Graham Hunter.

Haha worth a listen for the Italian/Spanish/German/American/Australian accents alone.

We'd definitely need a match-thread scenario in the studio. A load of randomers dropping in leaving dodgy comments and heading off again. I think it could work!

i'd listen and be part of it if wanted/needed.

Do you have a bald head and enjoy reading the newspapers outside cafes opposite football stadiums?

As it's for a podcast, just say yes...

I was involved in the old "Boards.ie" podcast a few years ago.

would there be a section for Boards own team?

No there are not. There are a couple with some specialised knowledge and a whole bunch of others with no education outside of their favourte club.

The cafes opposite the stadium here in Cesena are not the best. There is a fantastic one on the other side of town which I frequent daily. Depending on the time of year, you can sit outside. I could perhaps use this as my base, and have photos of different stadia ironically held up in the background?

And would a shower cap suffice to cloak my glorious mane?

Oh right.. it's a podcast... yes.

I'll consider taking part if it's me, Flah, Quarryman, Ordinary Man and he who shall not be named (no, not Voldemort though he may well look like him).

    Dream team stuff.

I'd be more than happy to contribute on a range of topics, including registas and Ireland's inability to create high quality footballers that play between the lines.
