This is amazing. Fair play to you Tom and the SSF team. So proud that my small donation (backed by Beasty TWICE) helped in a small way

    Fantastic news!!

Having had been in the unfortunate position of travelling with my sick child from Limerick to Dublin via traditional ambulance, I can vouch that its not a pleasant experience!! Thankfully he was asleep as this was before the new road was in place and I remember every bump of the old road:D

this is the project I couldnt talk about before.
Irelands first childrens ambulance was launched today called the Bumbleance. SSF paid for the fit out of the entertainment systems inside... so when you hear about it today on the news, be proud of AH...
Pic is attached and if you look closely enough I think you will see a logo you recognise :)

    thanks whore :p

Saw this on the news yesterday. That's really cool to hear that the SSF thing helped fund it.

Have to donate some money this christmas :)

As the mother of a little child with a very rare life limiting condition, this thread has made me very happy.

Damn kids these days with their fancy ambulances.
In my day we had to walk to hospital barefoot, in the snow.

In all serious though thats pretty cool
I think I'll get involved the next time 'round if this is the difference it makes :)

Can I ask a question as I cant seem to see the answer on their website and I do get the Clinical Practice Guidelines and PHECC legislation requirements and how complex they are including their transport clinical level standards.

Am I right to assume Lifeline is staffing the ambulance and they are being paid for that or are they doing it voluntarily?

I dont know the answer to that. I dont normally go into that sort of detail with projects we support. I just need to see that our money is spent on Quality-of-life improvements. What they do with their other cash is outside my meagre time-constraints.

In other news, there is some more information about it here: http://www.thejournal.ie/bumbleance-ambulance-children-1071558-Sep2013/?utm_source=shortlink

Delighted I could help the donations in my own small way last year, Is there any plan to do this again this year and when will it get started?

I'm always planning, but I usually give myself a break and don't start the drive until after Halloween. It just feels WRONG to do xmassy stuff before then :)

We'll be kicking off on Nov 1st this year!

hi folks firstly thanks for the support from Ssf. it is very much appreciated.

To answer a few questions. We here in the Saoirse Foundation own the vehicle outright. We have agreed a service fee with lifeline to provide paid professional services. Our machine is totally compliant with every legal requirement and lifeline are fully licensed / certified etc.. they are doing all of this for cost.

This is great because now we are the only charity capable of complying with ambulance legislation and the only charity who will ensure that all of you funds donated will be spent 100% on the cause.

I don't consider myself a legend tom. I am only a dad trying to make a small difference on this planet. Thanks for the help folks!

There is an auction running here at the moment of Breaking Bad related stuff if you want to get an early start. All monies raised go to SSF.

The Bumbleance guys and gals are pushing the Bumbleance from Dingle to Dublin!

    http://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/32007_dingle-to-dublin-the-bumbleance-mega-push-.html

Please please support them if you can or if you see them!

In other news SSF is working with them to create entertainment-suitcases which can be brought in to regular ambulances because the Bumbleance is always busy, its at 100% capacity these days (which is both awesome and kinda sad :( )
