Did they get original creator Dan Harmon after season 4 being considered something of a blunder( apparently)? I only got the dvd for season 3 this week!so off this thread i go!

I have to wind up a little, how else can i get some milage out of the fact Community will get shipped to Saturdays after 3 eps. of season 5 and be burned off quietly........:D

Community’s season 5′s likely 2014 return will see Justified actor Walton Goggins guest as a mysterious man who causes trouble for the Greendale gang, while Breaking Bad's Jonathan Banks will take a significant recurring role as a new criminology professor from. Comedian Rob Corddry will return as Jeff’s lawyer-rival Alan Connor, while returning showrunner Dan Harmon revealed at Comic-Con 2013 his intent to draft a second Dungeons & Dragons-themed episode. Chevy Chase will not return for the fifth season, and star Donald Glover will take a reduced five-episode role to develop his own FX series

First trailer's out! It was on NBC, but needless to say it wiggled its way onto YT, pending NBC getting cranky; while it's up anyway, it can be seen below. My first reaction? It seems ... different. Lighting seems very TV drama'ish...

Any chance we can start a completely new thread on Community's fifth season and merge in some of the posts? I just don't like having to see the OP's name at the top and every time I see the thread on the main forum. He was no fan of the show and deliberately pissed people off numerous times in the various Community threads.

I began watching it again from the start in the last few days to refresh my memory for January. Mind you, I think I'll be skipping season 4 and pretending it didnt happen.

The trailer looks great and it'll be good to see Jonathan Banks doing comedy, he had some of the best lines in Breaking Bad; "I can see a lot of outcomes to this thing, and not one of them involves Miller Time"

Im up as far as the middle of season 2 on my marathon rewatch and one thing thats very evident throughout almost every episode is that Troy and Abed's chemistry and banter are two of the show's absolute strongest points.

Donald Glover's full time presence will be missed this season

Here’s what we already knew about Donald Glover’s upcoming exit from Community:

• It is happening
• It is not because of his rap career
• The show has at least one excellent joke about it in the can, which you can see in the most recent trailer

And here’s what we found out this morning: Not a lot! Actually, wait, that’s not entirely true. TV Line visited the set and talked to the cast about it, and, yes, most of what they said is the usual, vague, somewhat cryptic language you’ll always get when you ask people about super-important plot points on the show they’re on, but there were a few tiny details that came out of it.

Joel McHale explained that Troy’s exit “is not just sprung on you” in the season’s fifth installment. Instead, “There’s a build up to it, and there’s a really good, really funny reason why he leaves.”

Troy receives “a tantalizing offer” early in the season, Gillian Jacobs added, which causes him to do “some soul-searching and looking inward, trying to figure out who he is and who he wants to be.” And once Troy has come to said realization, he will enjoy “a nice departure that doesn’t make you feel sad about the character; it feels right.”

And Danny Pudi said this, which damn near made me start crying:

“This [departure] is sad because a large part of the show and the experience for me has been this Troy/Abed relationship, and even more so it’s been Donald and Danny hanging out. But I’m excited for him because I know he’s got a lot of things to pursue. The nice thing about [Donald's final episode] is that the writers did a really good job of doing justice to both Troy and Troy and Abed.”

With Chevy Chase leaving at the end of last season and Glover leaving five episodes into this one, things are going to be more than a little different going forward. And, with that in mind, allow me to make one small suggestion, if I may:

"Community" has to find a way to get Jeff Winger back to Greendale in the Season 5 premiere. See how it all begins again in "Repilot" with this video clip from the episode.

Jeff (Joel McHale) does make it away from his community college for awhile, but the man's newfound devotion to things like justice and decency isn't terribly profitable. As a matter of fact, the attorney is in the process of losing all of his assets in the clip.

Who better to rub in this failure than Jeff's old nemesis, Alan (Rob Corddry)? On top of that, Alan has a case that directly involves Greendale Community College -- he wants to sue the institution of marginally higher learning after a Greendale graduate caused a bridge to collapse.

Will Jeff go for it? That remains to be seen.

"Community" Season 5 premieres Thursday, Jan. 2 at 8 p.m., with a second episode following at 8:30 p.m., on NBC.
