Hi all, I'm a primary teacher and so spend some of my work day outside supervising yard.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good quality boots, preferably not leather, that wouldn't let the cold up through the soles? I'm willing to invest if it'll save my toes!

Not leather will look like a sneaker, might not be appropriate for work. palladium boots are prob your best bet here

If ya really want some warmth grab some UGG's and 'No i'm not talking about the ones women wear. They do some lovely boots/shoes for men with the fur inside.

    Hope that helps a bit

Theres a lady doing the rounds of shows in Ireland who sells possum fur insoles (Kiwi country clothing). They would do the trick. Or wool insoles are very good too. I live in a Nordic country and wool insoles inside normal Chelsea boots worked great for much of last winter.

Sorel sell a range of winter boots but I think they're more heavy duty than what you're looking for, although I think they're cool.

How about a snowboot - I bought a pair of these two years ago, and they look fab, are very comfy and toasty in the cold weather. Waterproof too.

And, it it gets icy, there are built in ice-grippers that just flip out. Brilliant boot!

Funny that it's been presumed that I'm a guy.

Leather-look boots would be fine. I specifically don't want uggs because of the animal cruelty aspect. Same would go for those possum boots too, albeit an interesting idea.

Speedsie, that seems to be exactly what I'm after - thanks!

    I'm a girl too!!!!

It's a great boot, and I'm getting my mother a pair this year.

They really have lasted well - still look almost new (bought in December 2011), but I only really use them walking to and from work.

They are more water-resistant than waterproof though, but I've had no issues with leakage, but perhaps they would not be great standing in a down-pour.

    Enjoy!
