    This man was in Aden in the 60's, for which he won a medal. What part of the worlds interests were served by keeping Aden a british colony?

    The Aden emergency wasn't about keeping Aden a colony, the transition to independence was announced in 1964.

    ....nothing to do with wanting to keep a base in the area and make sure the right kind of "independence" was granted....

    More like a managed transition to independence and an avoidance of a blood bath between the two rival opposition groups.

    the first gulf war was a revenge war, the second iraq war was a revenge war to finish the job as bush senior was unable to finish it the first time, Afghanistan was a revenge war for 9 11 all though i doubt 9 11 had anything to do with Afghanistan, it has been dispite what both the british and american governments want you to think a huge FAILURE

    I dont normally agree with you but you do have a very valid point here which I think should be acknowledged. Bloody Friday was a totally evil act and there is nothing sectarian about wanting its victims remembered.

    Iirc, the PIRA called a temporary ceasefire during the first gulf war to effectively do their bit.

    Did they want revenge as well?

    (revenge for what though I've no idea)
