Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bollix .. course we deserved togo to Brazil..
coleman deserves.. Keane deserves, Dunne, holohan,, Irish players with ability deserved togo ..

The team managed by Trap and playing the way we do.. didnt deserve togo ...

but Ireland deserve to be in Brazil

Dunphy can talk all he wants about players that didn't get a chance under Trap, but the fact remains we no longer have anyone world class.

People cribbed about Long, McCarthy and McClean not getting a chance, but they've been involved in the last few games and haven't really set the world alight.

What we need is a manager who can get the most out of average players. Traps system worked with those average players for a while, but it was too easy for the opposition to figure out.

Right now we need someone who can get us at least playing some sort of attacking football. I don't think we're good enough to qualify for the next Euros, but there's no reason, by attempting some attacking football, that we can't give it an honest go.

Does Liam Brady realise we weren't actually beating France it was 1-1 on aggregate. You would swear we were going through before Henry's goal.

I agree with coleman being good on the ball and having some composure... Green did well enough. Long seems to have no confidence. Walters on the wing is a joke...

Did Walters actually do anything in the second half? Can't believe he stayed on and Pilkington was taken off (and again when Long was taken off). Actually, thinking back, Walters did do something in the second half; he lost the ball on the wing and didn't track back which lead to the Austrian goal.

It has been poor decision making, like not identifying the correct substitution at the right time, that has lead us to where we are now. We will never win a competition with all the players we have available to us. We would probably even struggle to get out of the group, but we should, at the very least, be able to qualify.

Should Trap go ? Yes because he has ran out of ideas BUT the FAI might not be able to afford to get rid of him till next June.

The team should be managed by a committee of posters on this forum. The players can carry phones on the pitch and we'll text our instructions to them.

Well done, well done, don't deal with the topic at hand, dig up ****e which was pointless in another thread (because apparently young people dont remember watching football matches) and try and use it to detract from someone who disagrees with you in a completely unrelated thread.

    ****ing genius you are.

You're the one who got personal, not me.

In the other thread you made up garbage and were called out on it, and yet you accuse me of this.

I back up my viewpoints and argue them. All you do is come out with stuff like 'anyone who defends Trap is a ****ing idiot'

    Try respecting other views maybe.

Brady needs to be able to criticise Trap. How he can constantly defend him is beyond me especially after the last two games. Incredible really.

Give him credit when it's due but needs to be able to criticise.

We are fishing in the Championship/LowerEPL pool, where managers are earning 7 figure sums.

Though obviously we could give it to an exSwedish international for lesser money.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,399 ✭✭✭✭ThunbergsAreGo

Martin O Neill is a younger less successful trap

Should be no problem getting a manager after all the money Trap has earned for us, isn't the right Liam.

Brady is obviously right, if you take the players we have on paper and ask can we qualify for the next finals I don't think too many managers will say we can

If we don't qualify for the Euro's, with 24 teams in the competition, it's a total farce with the players available to us.

That's not exactly a great defence for holding on to Trap.

The team is basically useless right now, so why do we need such a highly respected manager? It makes no sense.. it's like putting Steve Ballmer in charge of a packaging plant.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,591 ✭✭✭ambid

Watching Brady & Dunphy is like watching an old married couple having a row ("you said..." "don't you put words in my mouth..." "pah..." *rolls eyes*)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,955 ✭✭✭✭_Kaiser_

Martin O'Neill is a top manager?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,016 ✭✭✭Hulk Hands

    Andy Reid
    Darren Gibson
    Stephen Reid
    Shane Long
    Seamus Coleman
    James McCarthy
    Wes Hoolahan
    Kevin Foley
    Ian Harte
    Anthony Stokes
    Mark Wilson
    Ciaran Clarke

Screwing up one personnel choice as an International manager, with so few games can be regarded as a grave mistake. That list (and ive probably missed a few) is just ridiculous. Kindly fcuk off Trap

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

Loving the body language Brady is showing Dunphy at the moment!!! I'd say no Chrissie Card for Eamo this year :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 633 ✭✭✭Bertser

Still could have Westwood, Coleman/O'Brien, Clark, O'Shea, Wilson, McGeady, McCarthy/Gibson, Houlihan, Brady, Long, Walters as basically a Premiership XI, no Roy Keanes or world class players but a solid starting eleven, someone should be able to do a job with that.
