They should not have done that. It is clear in their t&c's that the contract for purchase is upon the receipt of goods. The 25% off expired the day before the goods were received.

Point of purchase is when your order is processed in store and the final total is calculated (eg to take account of weighing produce) Your basket in this instance is your metaphorical online basket on the website

The delivery was on 30/09/13, the order would have been put together on that date, so why do you think Tesco should have given the expired discount?

Used this discount and don't think I would do it again. Have avoided Tesco for years but was tempted by this offer. Not worth it!

The delivery guy was so rude! Have been used to super nice guys from Superquinn. Left a bad taste in my mouth :mad:

If that was the case, I could put wine in my basket on 29/09/13 for delivery on 13/10/13 and get the 25% discount.
I've bought stuff through tesco.ie, and the price was lower upon delivery to reflect a change in prices between placing the order and delivery.
The point of purchase is when you sign for delivery

Correct - you could do that .


I've been onto Tesco and they have refunded the 25% they should have given and have apologised.

Why don't you contact them again and point out their own t&c's, and offer to give them back the refund. Ideally complain to the supervisor of whomever sent you the email.

but when there is a special offer that offers different Terms and Conditions for a limited time would that not overide the standard Terms and Conditions?

What's your definition of point of purchase? Mine would be when you pay for the goods ie when you click pay for the order.

The point of purchase is when the goods are dispatched. In your case this was a day after the promotion ended.
You will own the products dispatched to you from the time they are delivered to you. Until then, they will remain the property of Tesco. You will not be charged for products until they are dispatched. http://www.tesco.ie/termsandconditions/termsconditionsGroc.htm

Order by midnight tonight. It stated valid till 1st Nov so I'd say midnight tonight is the close off.

Nothing to do with the picking time, you book online use a coupon and hey presto ! The discount will be applied at booking not after delivery

bought 3 Smirnoff 1L (currently crazy prices for 20 euro)

that is 60 euro - 20 off

40 euro for 3 bottles of 1L Vodka is amazing value.

code didn't work for me, trying to book a slot for 12-2 tomorrow, tried 2 laser and a credit card and it kept saying their was an error, so soon as I removed the e-coupon it worked.

Got a mailing in the post today with 3 vouchers for Tesco online. They give €20, €10 and €15 off a €60+ shop excluding delivery charges. All 3 vouchers are valid until December 15th. No problem getting used with the drink offers that will available in advance of Christmas.

This thread was very blatantly advising to exploit the coupon loopholes .

It could be construed as an illegal or a corrupt practice both on Boards.ie side and the people doing it and then posting how . Although maybe not as bad as the cases they took to court in the past? Or is it.

Mr D’Oyly said: “Consumers typically do not end up in court for a minor case of coupon abuse – a few pounds off – but there have been a few court cases where people were making a living out of this.” In July 2011, a Cambridgeshire couple, Nigel and Penny Ward, pleaded guilty to reusing their Tesco Clubcard vouchers dozens of times to obtain almost £1,100 worth of free groceries in what is believed to be the first prosecution for voucher fraud. The couple, who claimed they had fallen on hard times due to illness, were sentenced to a 12-month community order and ordered to pay £250 each in compensation to Tesco.

But then again. Tesco should have had more security built in to keep the opportunists from exploiting it.
