Got email back from them - they should have given the 25% discount and they will be refunding this. I asked about the double the difference but they say it doesn;t apply to onlin - only in store.
They should not have done that. It is clear in their t&c's that the contract for purchase is upon the receipt of goods. The 25% off expired the day before the goods were received.

have you the exact wording there?

The price you will be charged for a product you have ordered will be the price at which it is on sale in store at the time your order is put together for dispatch. Because the prices of products may change frequently, this may not be the price at which the product was displayed on this Site at the time you place your order. http://www.tesco.ie/termsandconditions/termsconditionsGroc.htm?rel=help#Prices

this was posted on previous comment in thread though

"*25% discount off all wine and champagne is applied when you purchase 6 bottles or more at point of purchase and not when items are placed in the basket. This deduction replaces the normal 5% off when you buy 6 bottles or more. Subject to availability, while stocks last. Valid on deliveries between 26/09/13 and 29/09/13."

Point of purchase is when your order is processed in store and the final total is calculated (eg to take account of weighing produce) Your basket in this instance is your metaphorical online basket on the website

The delivery was on 30/09/13, the order would have been put together on that date, so why do you think Tesco should have given the expired discount?

Used this discount and don't think I would do it again. Have avoided Tesco for years but was tempted by this offer. Not worth it!

The delivery guy was so rude! Have been used to super nice guys from Superquinn. Left a bad taste in my mouth

"....at point of purchase and not when items are placed in the basket" - Does that not say to you that when you click make payment online, that is the point of purchase?

If that was the case, I could put wine in my basket on 29/09/13 for delivery on 13/10/13 and get the 25% discount.
I've bought stuff through tesco.ie, and the price was lower upon delivery to reflect a change in prices between placing the order and delivery.
The point of purchase is when you sign for delivery

Correct - you could do that .

I've been onto Tesco and they have refunded the 25% they should have given and have apologised.

Why don't you contact them again and point out their own t&c's, and offer to give them back the refund. Ideally complain to the supervisor of whomever sent you the email.

but when there is a special offer that offers different Terms and Conditions for a limited time would that not overide the standard Terms and Conditions?

What's your definition of point of purchase? Mine would be when you pay for the goods ie when you click pay for the order.

The point of purchase is when the goods are dispatched. In your case this was a day after the promotion ended.
You will own the products dispatched to you from the time they are delivered to you. Until then, they will remain the property of Tesco. You will not be charged for products until they are dispatched. http://www.tesco.ie/termsandconditions/termsconditionsGroc.htm

Supermarket secrets tonight on the BBC was very interesting with regards the Dotcom industry. 3% of all shopping is done online and going to at least double in another couple of years with Dot Com only stores popping up all over the UK. One planned soon in the north.

May as well get used to it. It can only get better.

Make sure and ask your Driver for you 10c off a litre of fuel .. http://www.tesco.ie/petrol/

So order by midnight tonight or will it work on an order put in tomorrow? I've already availed of it but the others in the house were meant to reg and give it another whirl but it has now been left till the last second. Anyone any idea if there is a danger if the voucher was invalid when they went to pick you wouldn't get your discount as that seems to be when they process payment?

Order by midnight tonight. It stated valid till 1st Nov so I'd say midnight tonight is the close off.

Nothing to do with the picking time, you book online use a coupon and hey presto ! The discount will be applied at booking not after delivery

    that is 60 euro - 20 off

40 euro for 3 bottles of 1L Vodka is amazing value.

    Thanks

Thats odd because when I used the 01/11 a little (red) error message appeared saying to use an earlier date. I might try it again.

Got a mailing in the post today with 3 vouchers for Tesco online. They give €20, €10 and €15 off a €60+ shop excluding delivery charges. All 3 vouchers are valid until December 15th. No problem getting used with the drink offers that will available in advance of Christmas.

Hope I get that, only did one online shop with them so might get lucky.

Supervalue gave me a €20 voucher off a €100 shop, but at their prices, no way..

Reading this article this morning and this thread came to mind

    Should shoppers exploit coupon loopholes?
Savvy shopper column: Taking advantage of errors is one thing but blatant abuse can be criminal

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/consumertips/10388782/Should-shoppers-exploit-coupon-loopholes.html

This thread was very blatantly advising to exploit the coupon loopholes .

It could be construed as an illegal or a corrupt practice both on Boards.ie side and the people doing it and then posting how . Although maybe not as bad as the cases they took to court in the past? Or is it.

Mr D’Oyly said: “Consumers typically do not end up in court for a minor case of coupon abuse – a few pounds off – but there have been a few court cases where people were making a living out of this.” In July 2011, a Cambridgeshire couple, Nigel and Penny Ward, pleaded guilty to reusing their Tesco Clubcard vouchers dozens of times to obtain almost £1,100 worth of free groceries in what is believed to be the first prosecution for voucher fraud. The couple, who claimed they had fallen on hard times due to illness, were sentenced to a 12-month community order and ordered to pay £250 each in compensation to Tesco.

Do you think anything will come of it? Do you think it is wrong?
But then again. Tesco should have had more security built in to keep the opportunists from exploiting it.
