Spent over 30 hours researching for a laptop time to broaden the horizon

Hi, I've just started college and will be doing Electronic and Computer Engineering for the next four years. I've been holding off of buying a laptop for as long as I can remember but it seems I can't avoid them forever.

First off, I intend to use my laptop for writing up reports, researching and ,occasionally, gaming (D3, WoW, Dota 2). My budget sits between €550-€700 for a laptop that I can take anywhere and everywhere without much hassle but still able to perform. I'm also fervent on getting 1920x1080 resolution and 15", if at all possible. I'm a fan of my movies.

The following is the system I'm using as a comparison. I built it via https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/ultraNote-15/
    Chassis & Display
UltraNote: 15.6" Matte Full HD IPS LED Backlit Widescreen (1920x1080)

    Processor (CPU)
    Intel® Core™i5 Dual Core Mobile Processor i5-3340M (2.70GHz) 3MB

    Memory (RAM)
    4GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 (2 x 2GB)

    Graphics Card
Intel® HD Graphics 4000 Video Memory Technology up to 1.7GB

    Memory - Hard Disk
    500GB WD SCORPIO BLACK WD5000BPKX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 16MB CACHE (7200 rpm)

    DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
    UltraNote Series: 8x SATA DVD±R/RW/Dual Layer (+ 24x CD-RW)

    Memory Card Reader
    Internal 9 in 1 Card Reader (MMC/RSMMC/SD: Mini, XC & HC/MS: Pro & Duo)

    Thermal Paste
STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING

    Sound Card
Intel 2 Channel High Definition Audio + MIC/Headphone Jack

    Bluetooth & Wireless
    GIGABIT LAN & WIRELESS INTEL® N-2230 (300Mbps) + BLUETOOTH

    USB Options
    2 x USB 3.0 PORTS + 2 x USB 2.0 PORTS AS STANDARD

    Battery
UltraNote Series 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (62.16WH) (Up to 7 Hours)

    Power Lead & Adaptor
    1 x UK Power Lead & 65W AC Adaptor

    Operating System
    Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit w/SP1 - inc DVD & Licence (€95)

    Price Ex VAT €637.50
    Price €765.00
    Quantity 1
Total Order Price EX VAT €637.50
    Total VAT Amount €127.50
    Total Order Price €765.00

Realistically speaking there are only 1366 x 768 in this price range but I can't imagine multi-tasking on a resolution like that.

Some other ones I've checked out are the Inspiron 15z, Asus K56CM even the Vaio Fit 15 E(although I'm concerned about its performance)

Could you guys help a brother out and tell me if I've missed an amazing deal somewhere or if I should wait until next year for prices to fall or maybe there are sales that occur towards the end of the year.

I also spent the past few hours looking at the HP ENVY 15t-j000 Quad Edition Notebook PC. If I had my way I'd buy that straight out by upgrading it to 1920x1080 but I don't think it's possible to get it that cheap here in Ireland.
