It's that time of year again! The first cold snap has hit :(

Time to start looking for a new Winter Riding Jacket as my old one is on the way out! Looking for a decent windbreaker with a fleece lining (bonus points for 2/3-in-one coats that you can remove the lining on!) that won't break the bank. Ideally don't want to spend much more than €100. I know they're out there!

Not fussy about brands whatsoever, but I don't want anything bright that can be ruined by the yard. Would be nice if I could wear it somewhere other than the yard too :)

Happy to buy in store or online. I know all the websites, so not looking for recommendations of where to buy online, moreso looking for recommendations of actual jackets!

I've always found horseware jackets absolutely fantastic. My 'old' jacket is about 5 or 6 years old at this stage and is still in pretty good condition - zips are all working, no rips or tears, velcro on cuffs still good, etc. And that jacket has had some pretty tough days and been through all sorts of work.

It's fleece lined (apart from the sleeves) and has a waterproof (well, heavy shower proof) outside. When I bought it, it cost about 50 quid. Not sure what it costs now.

    +1 on the horseware jackets.

To add to that, I'd be long frozen without my SSL jacket! It doesn't have a hood though, which is the only down point.

I don't like hoods around horses as they can be unsafe.

I bought one of the SJI jackets from Ash Equestrian in Mullingar about 8 years ago, it is brilliant, comfy to wear when I am teaching, course building or riding and comes out of the wash looking like new. it wasn't particularly expensive but has really earned it's price at this stage.

I bought a jacket in aldi the other week on a whim and it has been a life saver for around the yard and at shows. Its a crane one and its a waterproof outer shell with a removable zipped in inner warm jacket it has a hood hidden in the neck too. It is ridiculously warm its like wearing a duvet!
