    Hi all,

My friend and I are starting positions in November near Harcourt Street and are looking for advice on where to live etc!

Budget? House/Apartment? How many bedrooms? Bus journey or walking distance? Busy/Noisy? etc....

Clanbrassil St would be a good shout for an apartment, plenty of side roads near Harcourt St that would have houses to rent.

Since its city centre and the transport links to it are very good, you can live almost anywhere in Dublin, city centre or suburbs.

Its more a case of what sort of an area you'd like, your ideal commute time, and what you can afford. And once you start classifying parts of Dublin by suitability/safety, expect plenty of arguing, slagging and "boosterism".

Plenty of accommodation nearby. Advantage of being close to work/shops, lots of nightlife, and being a more "safe" part of the city centre. Disadvantages include noisy nightlife - and random crazy drunks around the Harcourt Street, Wexford Street area.

Ranelagh is a nice quiet village nearby within walking distance, which also has the Luas which goes direct to Harcourt St. But everyone has different opinions here...

Ranelagh could be a good shout but it's very expensive compared to surrounding areas. Rathmines/Portobello/parts of Dublin 8 etc. would give you a lot more property for the same money.

OP we need a bit more info to go on to be fair, working in Harcourt Street allows you to live pretty much anywhere in the whole of Dublin city and county really.
