Can you not just use a garden fork?

I have done but hollow tined aerators leave room for water and air to circulate, the fork just pushes the soil aside, compacting it and doesnt help with drainage as much. I have very poor drainage......

Ive seen them in various places at different times ... garden centres, B&Q, Woodies. Check sites and then ring to see if they have them in stock
