    Rubbish. The cost is / was entirely your responsibility, there was NEVER a possibility that you could legitimately expect the tenant to pay, regardless of the spin you put on pay versus 'contribution'.

    Fair enough, the issue is resolved now anyway and you are getting worked up, so I'm going to love you and leave you

    I agree with other posters the landlord should pay. I guess you will get chancers as landlords everywhere.

    This is a landlord issue. Most apartments have pumps. Maybe you should check out a company that specifies in apartment pumps rather than a regular plumber.
