Is Ulhien playing out of skin or Rory just making silly mistakes?

Mixture of both. Rory looked hungover first nine but picked it up last few holes.

Uhlein is playing pretty well in fairness. He was -5 through 13.
Rory also probably doing him a few favours.

McIlroy is about -1 through 15, so not his best...although I don't know how the scoring is in general is. Had a look at Day's match and he was about the same score through 15 and won 4&3

Rory had 5 birdies in a row on the back 9. Fell too far behind early on.

The putting woes have gone to his hands. He's very young for that to have happened.

Rory with another case of Foot-in-mouth disease:

Perhaps its slightly out of context, or badly phrased, but doesn't really do him any favours to say he doesn't care about any tournament other than the masters (which maybe also explains a lot about how tight he got, at the masters)

2 under through 3, great record around here, let's hope he can pull it off.

I reckon he be saying the same if he was waiting on The Open for the grand slam! Sure I think he even said it when he one it that it was the one he wanted most. So I wouldn't be looking to much into it.

Nice to have the early "featured groups" coverage but the commentary is abysmal. They just failed to notice that McIlroy bogeyed his 9th after being in the hazard. I've noticed this sloppiness at previous events too.

Started at the 10th. -3 playing the 18th and went into the creek and took 5. Nobody told the commentators, who said despite the near miss for birdie, Rory makes the turn in 3 under.

It's actually pretty bad. Normally the tourlive coverage is excellent

Shambles of a performance today. Another terrible putting performance and his 16th hole just summed him up.

Best drive of the day leaving 130 yards and he misses the green. Then proceeds to miss a 3 footer for the par!!

I think Rory fancies going home for the weekend.

He certainly doesn't look too interested. I could suggest his caddy tries to help but we know what that will do.

Rory seems to be currently lacking the hunger that drives other players. He has the talent to blow them all away.

People keep on banging this drum as if Rory is more talented than the rest. The fact is anyone of 6 or 7 of them have the talent to blow the others away on any given week.

Since he turned into a big bomber he seems to have lost his touch elsewhere. Missing wedges from 100 yrds is shocking from a top ten pro.

I'd say he is a messy eater alright.

I think it's more that people aren't impressed with him having good rounds and finishing top 10 after what is fast becoming the typical "take yourself out of contention" round in the middle. A pattern is emerging and it's not good imo.
