Rory's on a different level when he plays like this.

That's a 22 putt round!!! Strokes gained 6.27. Stunning!! Surely that must be some record for putts?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,235 ✭✭✭big_drive

Never seen him putt like that, unreal.

    Spectacular. Simple as that.

On a different level to the rest when he is on form.

At the masters, he couldn't buy a putt, yesterday it was like there was a magnet in the hole!

-9 with a double bogey is some score. Granted the course was playing easier than normal, but it was the same for the rest of the field.

Poor Phil wiped out a -5 score in the last three holes :(

He really is on fire right now - strokes gained putting stat is 4.06!

At the end of the round it was a whopping 6.29

Fabulous from Rory - great to watch last night. Yes, the course was playing relatively easy, but to be ahead by three shots, that's exceptional. If he goes on like this, you could easily see him being number 1 in the world in the not too distant future.

It was great to watch him nailing those long irons and sinking putt after putt. That one loose swing on 15 cost him dearly, but what a recovery to get both shots back on the next hole.
Last time he was in this kind of form he won the USPGA and two FedEx playoff tournaments in quick succession.

    +1

No one will get close to him if he plays to his best.

Scott/Watson on their day are quite formidable aswell.

Scott and Rory showdown would be quite something.

The key thing that I see in Rory since this time last week, is that he seems genuinely to be out to prove something. Looks alot more concentrated.

Its not the lowry bear stare, but the intensity is there.

Fantastic golf & insane putting alright.

Would be a bit concerned with the knee to be honest. They way he swings must be putting severe pressure on his body.

Hopefully he won't end up crippled like Tiger at a young age

Yeah he does have an abnormally athletic swing, if he has knee problems now they are unlikely to go away as he gets older.

    Then again I'm no doctor.

He's all over the shop so far today.

Bogey, par, birdie, double bogey and in a bit of bother again having just cleared the water green side.

    +2 for 4 today

Turns out he was in the water. Looking at another double here

Yep, another double. He's going to be having another forgettable Friday it seems :pac:

It's stopped being a pattern and started to become a habit.

Read a tweet from one of the big golf journalists last night and he said he has spoken to an orthopaedic doctor about Rory's swing and the doctor said he's be shocked if it didn't cause problems later on as he put his body under enormous strain to hit the ball as far as he does.

Another double, on a par 5 no less. Jack Nicklaus is getting his revenge :D

He could be reversing his score* from yesterday if it gets any worse.

    *and that might be optimistic

Has to be the knee surely

Holes a bunker shot for par then on 16

    Not sure what's going on.

Looking at the shot-tracker, his 7 on 15 looks very odd.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,648 ✭✭✭AGC

He had left his first shot in the bunker as well

    Yeah on 16.

On 15 it looks like he chipped backwards into a greenside bunker on the way to a 7

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,833 ✭✭✭Panrich

    Yeah on 16.

On 15 it looks like he chipped backwards into a greenside bunker on the way to a 7

With a penalty thrown in there too.
