More people should read this link posted earlier in the thread before getting too worked up about the pictures.

Obviously if the main story about the 8 year old is true it warrants disgust but there may be more than a little bull**** involved if you take into account some pictures attached to the story and the explanation in the above link.

    Two separate stories.

Prosecutions are apparently pending in the case of the child who was raped to death.

A Muslim scholar says that they can't change the Islamic tradition of marrying children because it would cast aspersions on the character of Mohammad as he married a 6 year old girl.

Guys this was confirmed fake even though published by a yemen newspaper...the guardian then picked it up and it went viral.
The girl is alive and well, some newspaper got in contact with her father and he said she was never even married!

This was just made to highlight the fact that it's legal for 8 year olds to marry 40 year olds, but it never happened, and the girl's fine.

    I remain suspicious

I'd imagine it has happened to others. When 40 year olds are marrying children all over the Islamic world. Disgusting medieval carry on.

That's a great relief. :) Was she never married off at all?

Hopefully that practice will change though, it shouldn't still be legal. I suppose if Sharia is in force it's going to be hard to stamp out, unfortunately.

ETA: Apparently it's still possibly true :( Damn it.

apologies, I'm not up to date on it...just read an article which said the father was contacted and nothing happened. Didn't realize there was still controversy over it, so it may be factual I'm not sure.

    A cover up possibly?

No islamic immigration should ever be allowed in this country, where ever islam is be it the Middle East, Africa or Europe it is a cancer.

Also the current mosque that has been given planning permission should be banned. What hope do we have if we keep letting centres of bigoted intolerant primitive ideologys open there own communities. Do we really need to go like Britain.

Now this is worthy of some seriously self-righteous wrath, if only I could take it seriously enough as an ideological stance to summon some up.

**** enlightenment. Having a child so you can sell her off to a paedophile so he can murder her isn't something you do simply because you haven't been told it's not politically correct.

Is this really an ideology that belongs in this country or any civilized county for that matter?

The Irish are people. Irish people have integrated and prospered wherever they find themselves.

Islam is a religion, a belief not a race. And wherever these people are there is non integration cultural and moral differences. It is simply not compatible with our way of life.

Oh an do you really not know what ideology I'm referring to!

The Halawas you refer to? If you can't see them as islamic fascists yourself well then I can't help you I'm afraid.

Sunni muslims of course are more extreme, ( the name may fool you thinking they are pleasant), as for sects. Don't see why I should waste my time getting into that. But I don't know the ins and outs of cancer or AIDS but sure as hells know I don't want to have any personal contact with either of them.

What happened was horrific.... But really none cares, they see it in the news then all of a sudden "we should do something about this" but they know nothing of the culture, the religion or the laws that govern that state or the fact that this kind of marriage happens frequently in a host of all countries and cultural backgrounds....

In fairness my point is probably lost on you!

The last communion I was at, I felt the exact same way. All these young innocent kids standing around in their white, bride of Christ dresses, with none of them really aware of what they are getting involved in. Hard to believe this still happens in 21st century Ireland.

If you have more people with those beliefs in larger numbers what chance do they have of ever integrating. Best to remove the tumour before it grows IMO.

I think religion should be banned.

I'd make it illegal to bring a child up in any religion. I'd give them the same legal protection against religion as we currently offer against child abuse.

Once passed their 12th birthday, if they want to believe in anything, that'll be up to them, at least we'll have given them a free start.

I'm comparing islam, ie the belief not the people. It is in my opinion and that has nothing to do with skin colour. I already said be it Africa, The Middle East or Europe those subscribing to those beliefs bring trouble. Those three regions are all different races.

Remember Islam is a BELIEF NOT A RACE.
