Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Title race?

    Only 3 games gone :pac:

Looking forward to this game. Think the styles of play that each manager appears to be trying to implement may mesh together quite well, and that the game may be more open than might be expected.

Might even get a look at some of Chelsea's new signings in league action.

Its impossible to 2nd guess our team at this stage I dont think we've a definite starting XI, we've about 6 starters but there's a few positions up for grab.

    Wonder will Eto start today?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

I'd say no, if I was taking a stab I'd reckon it will be :

    Cech
    Ivan JT Luiz Cole
    Ramires Lamps
    Schurrle Oscar Hazard
    Torres

    Schwarzer
    Azp
    Cahill
    Van Ginkel
    De Bruyne
    Mata
    Eto'o

The idea of Mata and Eto'o sitting on the bench would be madness for me. Then again I am of the thinking that sending Lukaku out on loan again was a mistake. I think he could have thrived in the same team as Hazard, Mata, and KDB.

Any chance of Kalas making the bench I wonder? He looks a smashing young talent from what I saw of him playing in Holland.

I'd guess Cahill in for Luiz and Eto'o in for Torres. Maybe even KdB Assassin in for Schurrle too.
    Dammit..you really can't predict a Chelsea lineup these days!

I think Everton have always proved a threat so Schurrle would take Matas place for the up and down play, Hazard has developed that part of his game and Oscar is as always a willing runner.

Jose might well play Mata, hes had basically 2 weeks off so himself and Torres are as fresh as can be so Mata might very well play, not so sure about Eto'o but Jose said he'd play some part at least.

Id agree on Lukaku, I was all for keeping Lukaku but if hes only going to play 20-30 gaes with us its better he plays as much as possible with Everton which you'd imagine would happen.

Kalas, he very well could be, hes a very good athlete and a good reader of the game, again looking at our back line, Luiz, Cahill & Ivanovic played internationals so he could make the bench, hes definite one to watch in the coming years.

Not sure about Cahill, I know who I'd play anyway but I aint Jose.

As Kess pointed out, our bench is full of quality anyway so whoever misses out we'll have plenty in reserve.

Looks a star already and wish he was starting ahead of the useless Naismith.

Good starting XI. Think I would still have had KDB in instead of Schurrle and Cahill instead of Terry, but after seeing the Everton starting XI I am beginning to rethink my earlier thoughts on it being an open game.

The midfield pairing looks more balanced imho with Mikel there rather than Lampard.

It amazes me that a pundit as well paid (I assume) as Jamie Redknapp somehow isn't aware that Mata's been injured, he's had a niggling injury since pre season and fitness has been an issue since then too.

A different Chelsea would want to come out for the 2nd half. Need urgency. And 2 substitutions.
