Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cech's ball out really was poor and that leads to the Everton goal, Ivanovic's positioning could also be called into question. That was the third or fourth time there's been an overload on the back post.

Going forward there have been chances but it's a more difficult task now that Everton can just sit back. Really frustrating to concede so cheaply that late in the half.

I'm not embarrassed, I thought he was doing quite well, but one goal does not make up for last season's pathetic performances - another 5 goals in 10 games and I might change my opinion :D

Useless is a term we use to motivate players :D

    Very harsh opinion on Naismith,
Who has 24 caps for scotland and even scored against Spain.
And has won lots of medals from his time with Rangers.
Lots of bad players in the premiership and many worst than naismith.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with Ivanovic's positioning there. It's Luiz' man who scores with a free header......and Luiz randomly runs around like he always does....instead of calmly holding his position and marking his man.

I know you think he'll end up at Barca in the end and therefore walks on water in your eyes, but call a spade a spade. Luiz was more at fault from that than Cech.

Barcelona or no Barcelona hrs my favourite defender playing, for me, he's one of the best defenders in the world. I don't agree that he is more at fault than Cech and I accept that that aggressive pressing is how he defends.

Just my opinion. I'm not saying he's the absolute worst player in the league, I just don't rate him at all. International caps and scoring against Spain wouldn't change my opinion either.

"Aggressive Pressing" is not what he did. He ran to tackle a player who already had 3 Chelsea players around him and left Terry and Ivanovic to mark 3 everton players on their own. It was atrocious defending.

In fairness, Luiz left left man, Ivanovic had 2 players to mark.
    Luiz's fault mate.

He's quite a decent player but he's been pretty poor for Everton although I would say that may be because of injury and lack of consecutive playing time. He's had far more terrible performances for Everton than decent ones.

Chelsea need to get Eto'o off, he's not up to it for this game, obviously to do with a lack of training and game time he's gotten. Torres would put in a shift regardless of form.

Watch this, Eto'o will score now...

I used to love when the big teams came to Goodison under Moyes. The performances were so intense. This is different...

    Not neccessarily worse, just different.

Btw Osman is out of his dept playing Martinez style. His decision making is too slow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,887 ✭✭✭✭klose

Etoo looks miles off the pace, pretty damning interview i read the other day from roberto carlos about him over in anzhi

David Luiz is awfull at positioning.

Also Eto'o has suffered badly in Anzhi. Half the player he was

There has to be something to that Mourinho/Mata thing...

I've always felt that Luiz would make a better DM or CM than a CB - this wouldn't be the first time he has gone awol in his own penalty area

Schurrle hasn't looked great from what I've seen so far this season

I don't think Brazil do defensively committed backs, Thiago Silva and David Luis in the centre is just stupidly attacking for a CB partnership.

Both teams look as if they could do with lukaku. Which is ironic

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,222 ✭✭✭✭Will I Amnt

Webb is such a weak referee, wasn't going to give that foul only Mikel grabbed the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,829 ✭✭✭✭Panthro

    Cole for Torres?
    What?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,016 ✭✭✭Hulk Hands

Wayhay, Mourinho finally decides to be attacking. Chelsea have never been the most exciting team, but Mourinho really has inspired some dross thus far this year. I really thought it'd be different this time round seeing as the teams strength seems to be it's attacking players. You can see why Madrid never warmed to him.

    A very un-Mourinho substitution.

McCarthy should end up replacing Osman in the starting 11, Osman's too much graft and not enough technical skill to play under Martinez.

Hazard really hasn't shown his potential since arriving at Chelsea.

    70min Everton sub

    Moyes for Martinez.

    Eto'o taking on Coleman.
    Ahh now.
    It's not 2006 any more Eto'o.

Really? Maybe haven't seen enough of him but he seems to loose the ball a lot.

He hasn't started this season on all cylinders - but last season he was unplayable at times

Think there is another goal in this

I'm reading 12 assists and 12 goals for last season.

Overrated. Poor positioning and makes up for his flaws with his pace.

So cynical that he should have gone there

    Chelsea look pretty average.

    Good performance tho by Everton

He was by all means playable, he was just almost unstoppable.
