Great coffee in Australia?

If there is one thing Australia does well, its small coffee shops. One of a kind, standalone places. Love sharing new finds and would like to hear other Boardsies recommendations.

    I'll start the ball rolling.
Sydney: Utopia in Macquarie Place near Circular Quay. It only does takeaway but queue is often out the door. Nuff said.

Nookie in Redfern/Surry Hills. More of a window than a cafe but kooky and great flavour.

Kepos St Kitchen in Waterloo. Yes I know its a bit out of the way but it does a mean breakfast and is worth the stroll down for the coffee alone. It also just won a hat in the good food guide so expect a bit of a wait!

Any other good finds/favourite coffee joints? In Sydney or further afield?

Melbourne; and this is only a quick top of my head list:
These are all top notch coffee

    Seven Seeds, Berkeley St, Carlton
Padre at East Brunswick Project, Lygon St, East Brunswick, they also have stalls at Vic and Sth Melbourne Markets
Miss Jackson, St Kilda on Jackson off Grey, looks hidden from street.
    Patricia, Lt Bourke St CBD
and T Roy Browns, CBD; a hole in the wall place on Flinders St.

I have to mention Pellegrini Espresso bar on Bourke St, CBD, an instutition here where you have to try at least once, very old school Italian!

One of the best places in Sydney is coffee alchemy in marrickville, they roast, grind and sell on site too. Pretty much a mini factory, and constantly win awards.

Single origin roasters, Reuben hills and fouratefive are great in Surry hills too.

East side : 3 blue ducks, X74, dukes lounge all good.

Inner west: Cornersmith, the grounds, double roasters, don campos, Cornersmith , campos coffee (all around Newtown, marrickville area)

When they can get a multi-national corporation like McDonalds to apologise for its crap coffee and promise to retrain its baristas in a large scale national advertising campaign...you know The country does good coffee!
