    Hi all,

I work in a business in the city centre and have been made aware of a surge of calls in the area from a person claiming to work for a credit card machine manufacturer, claiming there is a problem with your machine and requesting your merchant ID number to proceed.

Once given this number, the individual can access the account associated with your machine.

You might think this is the kind of thing you would never fall for but the people calling are apparently very charming and persuasive and its the kind of easy mistake you or your staff could make. It's very similar to the "Microsoft" phone scam.

Make sure your staff are aware that this number is important and not something you casually give out and change the default password on your machine, if you haven't already.
