Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sky Plus App - How Does It Work?

I have the Sky Plus App on my Nexus 4 and it works flawlessly.

My question is how on earth does it work. My sky box is not connected to anything - Phone line or internet connection.

So how does it communicate with my sky box to tell it to remote record?

I know it's not important but genuinely intrigues me!

Sky pushes the record command via satellite.

The newer boxes can be remote controlled via a wifi connection as long as both devices are on the same network, but for the older remote record options it is done via Sky's network.

Cheers for that. I had no idea you could push something like that down via satellite!

Yeah we can connect ours to the net but don't see any point to be honest as don't want to take advantage of sky anytime, etc.

When remote record first became available it blew my mind! Genius idea!

I have connected my sky box to the broadband then there are lots of On Demand shows that you can browse and watch whenever you want. The content is only OK to be honest and all told I think I have watched probably 2 shows on it.
