I understand the shop has closed. That leaves the big Tescos as the only bricks-and-mortar homebrew shops in Dublin.

So it does. Surely there must be a market for some kind of a bricks and mortar shop to do homebrew supplies in the city centre. I was in Gorey a few weeks ago and a place there did the basics.

Or even for a DIY/Hardware store in the city to take on home brew equipment as a sideline. Though I suppose the problem is that most of us buy online so they'd only ever be getting the crumbs from the e-tailers table. Many items in home brewing cost less than a fiver so there probably isn't much profit and too much online competition.

there was a place in Rathmines for around 6 months or so but I think its a business for someone who has their money already made and so run it as a hobby. I don't think you can make enough money to sustain dublin rents/costs

Are they still running their brewing course? Mate has a groupon voucher.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 11,848 Mod ✭✭✭✭BeerNut

Yep. Moved to JW Sweetman's. Tell your mate to go to the website and get booked onto a class ASAP. The voucher expires soon, I think.

Cheers Beernut, I might head along with him and absorb some of your expertise!

Anyone passionate about homebrewing would want me to start doing it. And I would need to sample a taste of a home brew first before beginning brewing:)

Was there last week. Selection was pretty small. Was surprised.

Couldn't leave without buying a kit though ha ha :)

Yeah only realised last week that the tesco extras have a great selection of kit. As a beginner, I like to be able to see and hold what I'm buying so I know it's the right gear. It seems to be Youngs stuff
