Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Best options for scrapping a car?.

So I'm moving away in the coming weeks. I have a 1.8 2003 Ford Mondeo Zetec that's on it's last legs. It wouldn't be worth fixing it to my knowledge as it comes to about €1300 in fees. So I'm looking for the best way to get rid of the car. Is it possible to make a bit of money on scrapping the car or are you just expected to accept the service?.

Also, there are original alloys on the car which are worth about €200 according to my local mechanic. I've also been told that by a few people not to scrap it but to try and sell it and that someone will be willing to fix it up. So what are my best options?.

Ring a few scrappies and ask what they'll give you for it.
Then put an ad on donedeal for 150 more.
After a few days if the car hasn't sold, bring it to the scrappy.

if the alloys are good condition, pick up some wheels from a scrappie and sell them seperatley. Several people on www.everyfordireland.com have Mondeos (me included)

Yeah I was planning on doing this. One guy at the garage actually told me he'd buy them off me if I had come the week before for €250. I'll get them to throw on a ****ty pair. Cheers.
