Impossible to tell, looks like bird poop to me - isnt rat poop small like pellets and heaps of them?? :P

God I hope you're right! We had a rat problem a few months ago in the garden, rentokill visited over about 6 weeks and gave the all clear when they left. That was about 8/9 weeks ago I think. We immediately thought the worst when we saw this. Oddly enough, when we did have rats I never once saw any droppings. Let's hope it's a bird!
