Great result, OP! Fair play to the poster who suggested using your car to block the driveway. Definitely sounds like the little scumbag was looking to do a legger considering he loaded his car up before breakfast and then didn't leave til 2.30pm!!!

Next time, ask for cash upfront.

How did the OP know that he was likely to do a runner?

Sometimes you just get a feeling, or sometimes the person might say one or two slightly suspicious things. In a small business or occasional business like this B'n'B set up, you learn to trust your gut!

AirBnB has a lot to be said for it, IMHO.

What was the guest doing from Breakfast time to departure at 2:00pm? Surely not in the room all that time?

The OP was within his/her rights to approach the guest after 12:00pm and ask for payment as the OP might not be around later.

The OP has been doing this for yonks. His present money situation is propelling the paranoia. The guy could have been reading/googling/texting/snoozing for those few hours. Am sure if he wanted to do a runner he would have kept going when he loaded up the car. Wake up folks!

And how would you know about the OPs money situation?
