Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What to do with a blocked iPhone 4?

Sisters bag was stolen last week with her phone in it. Insurance provided a new one & she got O2 to block it via imei number.

Yesterday the guards called her, they'd recovered the bag & contents at the bottom of a skip & she picked them up last night.

She now has the phone back but obviously blocked. The phone is paid for in full (@ then some with the insurance premiums she's been paying), so she was wondering can she do anything with the imei blocked one?

Can it be reversed or what are her options?

It was bought unlocked from apple & she's paid over €1100 in insurance premiums.

So I'm not altogether convinced by your "it belongs to them" argument.

I should add that insurance failing to pay out on an old Nokia years ago which I'd paid premiums on for five years & when it got wet in my pocket during a huge thunderstorm wouldn't pay out May have coloure my opinion of them.

Water damage not covered in a country where it rains 65% of the year.

It was her choice to pay for the insurance was it not?

The terms & condition's of the policy will state that they own the phone now. She should return it.

The insurer is the only one that can get the blacklist removed. No way it can be used here as a phone without getting it off blacklist.

Whether you're convinced or not doesn't really matter. The insurance company have paid out for a new one and own the old one.

Tell her to ring O2 to have the block reversed.

Don't even mention the insurance company. Just say she previously had it blocked, but found it again. Happy days.

Then return it to the insurance company.... obviously....

It belongs to the insurers so send it to them or at least inform them it's been recovered.

Check the T&Cs of any insurance policy you are offered before signing up.

    1) Ignore the moral dilemma of technically owning stolen goods.

    2) ask O2/insurance to unblock (it might not even be blocked yet)

    3) if o2 don't/won't, sell it abroad (UK eBay)
