Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Passing through the N4 approaching palmerstown at around midday today the was a Garda motorbike on its side. Part of the road was closed off by a Garda 4x4. Anyone know what happened? I rarely hear about a Garda motorbike cop been in an accident. To think they that they are involved in dangerous pursuits on a weekly basis you would think that there would be more accidents involving them?

Guess it shows the benefit if training.

They should never be involved in 'dangerous' pursuits. The first concern of the emergency services is their own personal safety.

I heard he came off the bike while doing an escort. The bike slid, but didn't hit anyone else.

Indeed. There was no damage to the bike in sight and no debris so hopefully it wasn't a bad slide.

Apparently the rear wheel locked and he lost control. Could've been a lot worse!

Bike gardai are usually a sound bunch and I take my hat off to their amazing skills in the saddle. Must have been just one of those things that was outside his control.

Looks like a "paramedic/doctors bike" to the far left of the pic.

The speed of the garda bike leaving the Apple Green Petrol Station (M1 Northbound ) the other day was a tad fast allright.

He just flew out and cut right out accross 2 lanes of oncomming cars and flew up the motorway................no lights or siren on,he just flew out and gunned it.

We were pulling out of the station infront of him and he just flew past us....nearly clipped my girlfriends cars wing mirror,he was that close when passing us.:pac::eek:

There was a Garda down here in Cork that was knocked off his own FJR a while back when off duty. It kept him off duty for a while. Just goes to show that no matter how much training you get, what we do is still inherently dangerous.

The other side to the coin is I'd say is with regard to bureaucracy and procedure, whenever something like this would happen. What might be a sh1te morning and a spin in a recovery van for a civilian could be an absolute ball of red tape for a guard.

With the current H&S laws it's the same amount of paper work for all workplace incidents, loads, doesn't matter what organisation your in.
