Lads, what is your opinion on Soldado? At 9.5 he is pretty pricey and hasn't really delivered that much, should I keep him or drop for maybe Giroud or Sturridge? If I take a points hit I can get Rooney in maybe

His only 2 goals have been penalties. I have him and want rid, but have to wait a few weeks. I cannot see him going nuts V Chelsea at the weekend either.

I have to wait too :( Forgot I already did a transfer to get Lukaku in. Of course you know that as soon as we get rid he will get a hatrick

Is Moyes really going to send Rooney out with that yoke on his head tonight, call it a rest or whatever but if his head is still at risk of reopening I don't think he should have any part to play in that competition, Liverpool or not, I haven't been looking into it and I may be way off but I don't think he'll play, plenty of other guys need some gametime.

If he doesn't play, I might bring him in tonight. I'd hope he won't. That said, I also have an eye on Kun Aguero.

The thing is though, United losing to 'Pool now would be another hit for Moyes after the losses to Liverpool already in the League and City.

You wouldn't know what team he'll put out tonight to stop the rot. Wellbeck and Hernandez should be more than enough to see off West Brom at the weekend. I certainly don't think Rooney will play again if he starts tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,747 ✭✭✭Swiper the fox

    We're on two different threads:P
I personally don't think Moyes can run the risk of not playing his best team in the league as things stand, he can send out the kids tonight and nobody will mind as long as they show a bit of fight, Rooneys head is still an issue, the doctors told him to leave it for six weeks and that was only during the international break, he really hasn't played much considering he missed the Liverpool game also, I brought Rooney in yesterday, I have absolutely no concern that he won't play in the league at the weekend, certainly not for a rest anyway, it's a cliché I know at this stage but he wants to play as many games as possible, he won't take kindly to it when Moyes does decide to rest him, particularly as he is their only player who is performing to his potential at the moment(including RVP).

There's no way Rooney will play in the cup with his head injury.

There's also no way he won't play in the league game after scoring in 2 consecutive games.

Welbeck and Hernandez probably start against pool

Maybe 3 or 4 for the whole season, Fergie seemed to like him but I wouldn't rate him as third best centre back at united.

Moyes will play a strong team tomorrow , he won't want to lose to Liverpool after Sundays defeat to City .

I'm just wondering why there's very little Aguero loving?

He has started every game for City bar the Stoke match (which is one where I'm thinking he would just have come back from a long trip for international duty) and has delivered 35 points at a slightly higher price than Rooney.

He's the second highest points scoring striker to Giroud.

I also think he has a better midfield behind him than Rooney (but that's for the soccer forum).

If I'm taking RVP out, I'm thinking it'll be for Aguero and not Rooney.

Last season I fancied him to finish top scorer but injury ruined his season. This year he might just do it if he stays injury free.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,747 ✭✭✭Swiper the fox

I'd love to get Aguero and probably will in time, problem I have is that the rotation Pelligrini showed us against Stoke suggests that he may only play 80% of the games and could be left out of the seemingly easier fixtures. Time will tell I suppose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,588 ✭✭✭daithijjj

Was going to hold out on Benteke but took the plunge to offload for Rooney. Watching him come off the pitch at Norwich i think it would be a bit of miracle if that problem resolved itself in just a few days. And even if he does he plays v City. Price drop was coming last night for me, half fit, if fit at all, had to be done.

As for Rooney, mainly took the punt on him due to low ownership, will probably cap him seeing as RVP is a major doubt (i dont see RVP being out as major problem for Rooney points wise, if anything he will play nearer goal imo. The differential was important in my choice, too many have have same bodies up front.

Thought about Aguero too but the lesser differential with Rooney swung it.........for a week or two anyway.

After a four point hit teams looking like this:
    McGregor, Harper
Kos, Rio, Nastasic, Coleman and Chester
Ozil, Ben Arfa, Barkley, Arnautovic and Eriksen
    Rooney, Giroud and Suarez

Much more balance and spread out to the top 7 teams in the league.

    Lampard doesn't start!!!

this had better mean he starts at the weekend.

I need a week or two from him before I get rid.

Walcott was always a terrible finisher, even last year when he was on fire he left a lot of goals behind him but he's gotten much better, the goal he got in Europe last week was a super finish and may have been the little jolt his confidence needed, his running behind defences is going to be an awesome weapon coupled with Ozil's eye for a killer pass, he needs to up his conversion rate but there is hardly a player in world football who looks more suited to playing with Ozil, I wouldn't be surprised to see a few teams take a deeper line to prevent what could be carnage when they click, particularly against weaker opposition, meanwhile Giroud will continue to sweep in the occasional chance of which he should have plenty, I don't think Ozil will always have the last pass, Walcott could clean up there as well.

I reckon having walcott and ozil is the way to go(once walcotts fit). I think they are the best two midfield options in the game. Ive mentioned it before and think that walcott is the ideal player for ozils style of play. Ozils assists were pretty run of the mill stuff at the weekend however with him being on nearly all set pieces he will get lots of those run of the mill assists. I also agree with everything santi said about Arsenals & ozils potential being somewhat diminished due to having no real pace or goal threat on the flanks due to injuries. However I still got in ozil as I want him for the season and his price is only going one way.

    I bloody hope so.

Other players simply had to go first so I'm stuck with Lamps for another week or two at least. Fingers crossed.

Berbatov starts for Fulham.......lampard not involved for Chelsea. I might not be as badly stuck as I thought....now if rvp can just get fit.......glad I've not made a transfer yet and I was very very tempted to do s multiple one Sunday night !

Ramsey may be injured also. Has to be a concern for those who jumped the gun before the midweek games:

Agree 100%. Can't understand the rush to Rooney given the way united are playing. I had intended to bring in RVP for this weekend, but have gone off the idea now, was thinking about Aguero but for now i think Suarez if he looks middlin sharp tomorrow night, given Liverpool's fixtures.

Would not be too keen on any United assets at present, esp attackers, as I think they could be looking at a bad season already.

I honestly reckon we are over exposed to English players from watching Sky and the like hype them.

Someone raised the example of Barkley and Brady the other day. Brady's ownership is not near that of Barkley yet he's arguably the better player to have.

Rooney scored one at the weekend and got 5 points. He's approaching his second price rise.

Aguero scored 2 and got 13 points and is getting little or no attention.

There are also more utd fans than city fans which I thinks has an influence aswell. A lot of People subconciously prefer a player from the team they support.

Ssshhh, looking at options to bring him in a few weeks so let's keep it that way!

He wasn't even on my watchlist as he seemed to expensive given the rotation risk, but now he seems to have cemented his place and city looking to be free scoring with all that attacking midfield talent, he looks like an option. Especially as even silva doesn't seem to be certain of his place in the midfield. Would probably hold off given their next 4 fixtures, of which 3 are away are against some of the best defences.

Front line of Suarez, Lukaku and Aguero looking tempting maybe.

Im very surprised at the lack of Spurs defenders being picked in here. Meanest defence in the premiership so far. Dawson or whoever is a must IMO. Ive had him since the start and hes always first pick in defence.

Small factor that there are a lot more lads on boards.eng playing FF too, there'll be a tendency to go for you own country man.
Think it's natural to expect that Barkely is selected by more.
Whilst there may be minimal difference in points between them over the season, Barkely is the more exciting prospect (younger, with a better club, probably a better all round footballer tbf) and I can see why people have bandwagoned.

Sssh about Aguero, his 13 points came in handy last week.
But I'll be switching him to Negredo I a few weeks if he nails down a spot. I think he'll be a beast in FF if he gets going.

Looking at something similar. Looks like Soldado just got a reprieve now that both Walcott and Benteke are out.

The question is, who to bring in. Ozil, Michu and Rooney are the popular choices but I can only really afford 2.

Eriksen could be a nice differential as Spurs look very solid currently and hes looked very good in the 2 games hes played since signing. £8.2m currently.

I'm struggling to choose between Eriksen and Paulinho. Paulinho loves a shot and he's cheap.
