Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone know of a firm/solicitor that offer an all inclusive patent service, but you pay an agreed fee before they start. Basically you agree a fee, and pay that regardless of how much time it takes?
Or do they all charge by the hour?

    Thanks

Google the small number of firms that do IP, or the smaller still number that specialise in it and ask.

The short answer is: it depends :D

On a lot of variables, but at its simplest on (i) what is the work and (ii) does the firm provide fixed-fee services for that work and/or aspects of it.

Some do, some don't and, in my experience, none do in Ireland...though the financial crisis has changed many aspects of professional practice, and it's been a while since I practiced there.

On the assumption that, by mentioning 'all inclusive patent service' you want to obtain a patent and are starting from scratch, you will never get such an 'all inclusive patent service' for a fixed fee, because there are simply far too many variables beyond the control of your patent attorney, which have a direct influence on their business model/profitability.

Find a sole practitionner working out of his lounge or garden shed, they tend to be the most cost-competitive. But, as with all services, you usually end up getting what you pay for.
