Hi, my gf went to boil the kettle and now nothing works except the lights. The circuit breaker box has rows of switches but none look to have been tripped. Any one know how to resolve this, i grew up in a house with old fuses so don't know what to do!

its probably the rcd, it looks like a fat tripswitch and will be at the start of the row beside the 20amp tripswitches.

It may look like its not tripped too, just pull the switch down and then back up.

Also, you probably need a new kettle, sounds like the element is gone faulty if it keeps doing that!
