Exhaust pipe

Hi Guys,
The very end of my exhaust pipe is rusted to bits and needs replacing. Its actually an addition to the main exhaust pipe, about a foot long. I'm guessing this is because of the extra width of the motorhome compared to your standard Transit chassis. Local motor factors seem a bit unsure about this. Any ideas where I can get this part (I'm in north county Dublin)? Its curved at the end to direct fumes backwards. Diameter is 2.5". Its not obvious how the old bit is attached, I'm guessing I'll have to cut the old one off and get the new one welded or something. See attached pics.

Same happened to me.

I just got a bit of steel pipe from local motor factors of about 18 inches in length and pushed it on.

Fit was tight enough so no fixings needed. Not curved to direct fumes backwards but I don't see this as being an issue.

Cost me about €10.

Old one was held on with a screw which was just tightened to the original exhaust. I ended up getting it off by a bit of cutting, pulling and breaking !! It is only a cosmetic piece.

As far as I remember you can get an exact replacement with the technical term being a tailpipe or exhaust extension. A search on ebay throws up loads.

Try GT exhausts in Enniskillen they will make it to order.
I had the same problem earlier this year also on a ford transit and the ford garages could not identify it on their system.
I took the old pipe to GT exhausts and they made a new identical pipe which cost £45 stg.
You might have to wait a few days for them to make it but they could have it in stock.

Measure the diameter I got my 3" extension on ebay, stuck it on with tek screws temporarily pending welding.

Had similar problem got an exhaust trim from Donogheys in Donegal ..delivered to door was around 20/25 euro for lot..easy enough to replace and passed DOE.

Those are chrome jobbies though how has the chrome held up.
