    Would there be any worthwhile work out there if I went and bought myself a Van. I've no previous experience in the courier business or anything but I'm
    driving for over 30 years.

    my advice would be no. there is no money to be made what so ever. unfortunelty its gone to the dogs more and more people undercutting other people

    There are few ways to get great savings on haulage and van deliveries. What most people do is to ring few companies (numbers can be found on goldenpages or online) and ask for quotes on delivery job, but this way they can only compare number of firms and make the actual phone call what can be very time consuming. Second way is to check local delivery services on a websites like http://ww.gumtree.ie or htt://www.adverts.ie where you can ask question about delivery price, times, dates etc. What I notice thou is that you will get an private message back so you cant compare your price with other people were quote on similar deliveries. Third (in my opinion) the best way is to put your delivery up for “auction”. I found website called http://www.logideals.ie where you can put your job online and get multiple quotes from different companies. They are competing against each other. This way you can get very good price for free:)
