Just heard the interview with one of the Crokes joint managers on Radio Kerry for the second time.

And for the second time I heard him describe the tackle that Gooch getting injured in was 'diabolical', that the man who was involved was not even punished, and that you "would get life in prison for something like that down in Kerry"

So what exactly was the challenge like ?
I have not read anywhere that it was controversial.

    Or is he just whinging

In fairness it was a late poor challenge.

    That link does not work.

Anyway just say the incident on TG4( I had the game recorded)

    It was a nothing challenge.
Cuniffe put a hand on him as he was taking the shot.
    Nothing to see here.

Life in prison in Kerry? If you murdered Gooch you would be made pay into the poor box.

    Its a really funny interview.
The guy is practically in tears doing it.
He takes swipes at other Kerry clubs for not giving them enough of a challenge in the county champion too.
I'm not sure if Radio Kerry have a playback section on their site but if they do I'll post it.

Mea culpa is not an oft used phrase in Kerry.

Cunniffe did nothing wrong it was the other defender number 5 (i think) with the late challenge.

Vincents have a full fit team to choose from so you should hear something on Saturday evening or Sunday morning.

Is it cheaper to book in advance for the club finals like the league games?

I don't know , but a GAA official did spend a day during the week at one of the finalists clubhouse , and sold tickets @ €20 , which was €5 discount .

    Strange game.

Not really sure what to make of Vincents tactics.

Castlebar's goal leading a bit of a charmed life.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭Boom__Boom

    Spoke too soon.

Vincents score a 2nd goal having created something like 7/8 chances.

very poor game so far terrible shooting by both teams

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Castlebar have been the better team but Vincent's look like they could score a goal on every attack. Enjoyable game so far.

    0-9 to 2-3 at HT

Finals often don't turn out to be of a great standard and it's fair to say that it looked like nerves got the better of a fair few on both sides in that half, with a couple of bad errors on both sides.

I think Vincents will be slightly happier at the half-time as their attack hasn't really got going (only 5 scores) but they go in level.

If I had to call a winner I think I'd go with Vincents at the moment

Vincents have not played well but still got well into it with the goals. Mitchels have been very strong in all their 2nd half performances through to today, if they repeat that it could swing it their way.

Castlebar goalkeeper should be named MOTM if they go on to win this, bad match for Tomás Quinn to have a off day. Only half time yet, enjoyable game.

I just think Vincents have a lot more room to improve in terms of taking scores, whereas Castlebar don't have much space to improve things on that front.

Vincent's system is set up to avoid conceding goals with the lack of goal chances by Castlebar created in the first half it's very hard to see them getting goals in the 2nd half. Can they win without getting a goal?

St Vincents have the better and faster build up. Their forwards seem a bit better than Castlebar's.

    Kirby blessed there

Not a great quality game, but much like the hurling, it is engaging. Would love to see Castlebar win, but Vincent's look the better side.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

    Vincent's are taking over now.

I don't think so no, goals win games and all that, but in games like this its even more important.

And there's a goal for them!

Bit of luck to get the goal but forward was doing his job and gambling.

    Game on now.

Ouch - just the response Castlebar didnt want.

Vincents get their own bit of luck there

Ironic that the guy could be in prison by the end of the year, but towering above everyone on the pitch.

    Game well over now.

Connolly should get MOTM now. Defending has been poor by both but a good game well done to both sides.

Back to a 5 point game. Another C/bar goal would make it exciting.

Defending has been poor by both but a good game well done to both sides.

I think the new rules are really showing up the differences between being those who are good defenders and those who are simply lads capable of running around for 70 minutes pulling and dragging.
