11 flights from the Canaries currently on the radar over Ireland/Uk at the moment...thats an insane amount especially at this hour of the night. is that usual?

    No, it's completely normal.

Here's is what it can be like at just one of the Canaries airports (Las Palmas):

In the first one I see 7 the second I see 13 I counted the ones I could definetly tell were from Scandinavia and left out some white fuselage and ones that you could only see yellow engines that could be primera or jettime

Does a BA from LHR usually stay at DUB overnight?

Yes and Lufthansa there used to be others but most changed their schedules to save money on overnights.

Ah right for some reason had it my head I'd seen it go back to London. Is that last one tonight an extra one for today or am I mistaken there too? :D

    fr336,

Perhaps some tweaking of the schedule yesterday and today with St.Patricks.

    homerjay2005,

Have a play with the filters on FR24, for example set it to show only LPA traffic inbound/outbound, and it's impressive to see the flow of traffic from all over Europe heading towards the Canaries. Same for PMI on Tuesdays and Saturdays in summer.

If anything, 10 years ago it was probably even worse when much more of the traffic was charter and on specific days, now with the increase in scheduled low cost flights to these places the traffic is spread ever so slightly more throughout the weak but still peaks on the changeover days.

For anyone that is interested there is an Airbus A350 (AIB05NW) doing a demonstration flight around Spain right now. Was in the south of Madrid about 10mins ago.

    Why would it be offline?

Surely the price of an ADS-B reciever isn't what is stopping people from becoming terrorists..

It looks like we will have to reduce coverage around Shiphol during NSS2014.

    Only around Schiphol maybe

Saw a quote somewhere saying the flight-scanner/tracker sites will be offline

Terrorists only seem to bother with innocent people who could even be on their 'side', not the Blairs and Bushes of the world...

FFS, unless the Gardai/Airport Police make a concerted effort to catch these morons there will be hell to pay, is it going to take for a pilot to be temp blinded and crash before something will be done?

    Ridiculous

Would be nice to see that here, but they probably have an amount of previous convictions on these toe rags already.

How do we know they haven't been making the effort. They also, of course, have a lot less resources than other countries.

The owners of the aircraft are an irish leasing company.

What's the story with this 'blocked' flight? It's come from somewhere in north Italy

  • Registered Users Posts: 657 ✭✭✭Razor44

Did United have a 757 go tech this morning? Just saw that they flew another 752 in to Dublin from Edinburgh a few mins ago

Could be military or, perhaps more likely, private. A few private owners choose to block themselves showing up on fr24 I think.
